Modes
Story mode is what you can play by yourself to build your character and enjoy advancing through with npc parties.
Wireless play, by connecting with orther ds`s in your proximity you can play with 2-4 players.
In network mode you can log in to play with friends from all over the country to cooperate and have fun. In this mode you are also free to play alone.

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z88/kion_01/Phantasy%20Star%20Zero/page04.jpg
City
Play begins from the city. The city is where item shops and preparation for adventure takes place. You can accept quests from the hunter`s guild counter and leave items in your personal storage. Head to the teleporters to embark for the field.

You can go to the fields freely with out excepting a quest in order to hunt items on your own. You can continue through the main story by accepting quests when you want to. With story mode you can select the npc`s you want to take with you after accepting a quest.

!As you advance through the story you can access additional shops which are located in a new area under the city.

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z88/kion_01/Phantasy%20Star%20Zero/page05.jpg
Field
By either taking a quest or going to adventure on your own, you can access the field through the teleport. There are areas such as grasslands, marshes and snowy mountains. In each area you meet different enemies with different drops.
Each area has several zones. Zones now have a feature of being randomized. Maps and enemies will be different each time you play.
Defeated enemies have a chance of dropping items. A new feature is that when all of the enemies in a zone are defeated a treasure box will appear. In multiplayer you may need to cooperate in order for a treasure box to appear. Weapons you find will have an element and photon art randomly attached to it, so finding the same weapon can have vast differences.

!During your adventure you may encounter rare enmies which may drop arare item.

Basic Actions
[For this section, there`s a tab for each of the actions. The screen shot only shows the first one, but I`ll transalte all of them. Also depending on which tab you`re on the demonstartion video is different]
Normal Attack- Basic moethod of attack. By correct timing your character will perform a three hit sequence.

Evasive Move- An evasive move in which you assign to your action pallet. By use it by simultaniously pressing the button with a direction on the D pad to roll in that direction. You will be invisible for the short period of the roll, but your character suffers from a breif pause afterwards.

Technic- Techinics are this game`s equivalent of magic and consume PP. There are several effects such as healing, attacks and powerups that exists.

Charge Attack; Photon Arts- Photon arts are power attacks that can be performed with your weapon but require the consumption of pp. they can be performed by holidng down the heavy attack weapon until the charge is complete.

Charge Attack; Technic- You can perform charged technic attacks by holding down theheavy attack button until the attack has finished charging. the techs will do more damage and cover a greater area at the cost of higher pp consumption.

Chain Combo- The more continuous hits you and your party member`s land; the higher your combo couter grows. Charge attack damage increases with the hit counter.

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z88/kion_01/Phantasy%20Star%20Zero/page09.jpg
Mags
Mags have different effects based on their parameters and add to character`s stats. Each mag can learn up to three photon blasts.
Mags have several different evolutionary paths based on how you raise them. Not only does their form change but possily sex as well. Mags don`t just hover over your character`s shoulder, there are also mags that hover around the waist.
Mag`s parameters change base on the items that you give them. It`s possible to give them prtty much any item in the game.
When a mag evolves it gains the ability to use a photon blast. Photon blasts are not only for attack, but can have several other effects as well.

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z88/kion_01/Phantasy%20Star%20Zero/page10.jpg
Weapons
There are 16 different weapon types, and 350 unique items. Photon arts are automatically paired with weapons when you find them, so the same weapon with a diffeent photon art can be very different. Also weapons can be stronger against certain types of monsters (for example native). Weapons can have elemental abilities, such as burn stutus effect to inflict on enemies. Grinders can be used to make weapons even stronger.

Visual Chat
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z88/kion_01/Phantasy%20Star%20Zero/visualchat.jpg
In order to cooperate online, the DS can take atvantage of the touch screen by conveying words and pictures that you draw on the screen. This is a method of communication that hasn`t been done before, we hope you`re looking forward to it.

You can save art work you draw into shortcuts to be able to use in a short period of time. Try to impress your friends with your artistic ability. You can also save and edit other people`s entries by saving them from your chat log.

Try using visual chat in story mode. NPC`s will respond to your chat and may perform different actions based on what you write.

Update:

Fixed two things in my translation. Charge attacks are performed by holding down the heavy attack button until the attack is charged. Also I beleive that the encyclopedia is shared amoung your friends so you can cooperate to fill in your pokadexencyclopedia.

also class information from the manual:

The fourteen different classes are as follows;
HUmar - A well blanaced class. Focusses on striking weapons, but can also use techs.
HUmarl - Alittle less power full than Humar, but with tech skills and high accuracy this is a multiperpose class.

RAmarl - Skilled with projectile weapons and top class acuracy. Can use a few limited techs.
FOmar - Character with high tech attach and focus on attack techs. As this class grows it becomes profficient in close rnge combat as well.
FOmarl - A class not suited for close range combat. With the highest tech of any class this isthe strongest tech user. Can use all of the techs in the game.
HUcast - Had the highest HP and attack power of any character. Cannot use techs.
HUcaseal - With high attack power and high defense, this class has has everything neeed for close range combat. Cannot use techs.
RAcast - Top class gunner with blanced power and extremely high accuracy. Canot use techs.
RAcaseal - Has the highest accuracy of any class. Cannot use techs.
HUnewm - Great evasion and technical skills makes this class useful in close and distanced combat. The only drawback is the class` low hp.
HUnewearl - The class with the highest evasion. Power and techs are balanced makign this class ready for anthing.
FOnewm - A class with low defense but extrmely good tech attack. Can use all of the techs in the game.
FOnewearl - A low defense class not suited for close ange combat. Has extremely high tech attack making this class the tech expert.

For anyone else whose disappointed with the transaltion for racaseal; that`s seriously all it said.

Also sodandy thanks for the wall.

The download links for the wallpaper download section don't work for me. Do they work for anyone else? It just downloads some internet file that doesn't work :/

The Download links give you a .zip file. It should work so long as you have a program that can open archive format like .zip or .rar

What? FOmars become proficient in melee combat, but FOmarls don't? Laaaaame.

If they do it isn't statistical. And FOmar/l share a weapons use pool. So it can't be that FOmar have better Melee weapon selection compared to FOmarl either. I think that's mostly just poetics in the wording.

I personally think the female Forces have it better than the Male forces since it's easier for them to specialize.

Wait, so what is the statistical difference between FOmars and FOmarls this time? And female forces have an easier time specializing, how is that? I know FOmarls are more specialized in Grants and Resta and FOnewes are more specialized in Megid and Resta while FOmars get Foie/Barta/Zonde bonuses and FOnewms get bonuses to all attack techs and a penalty to Resta; is that what you mean? Is it different from PSO, where FOmars were better tech attackers than FOmarls, while FOmarls were more melee-worthy by dint of higher hit points, defense, and accuracy?

Maybe not that young, but yeah, this is kind of annoying. I guess we should expect this with more people coming to this board as we get closer to the release date.

Apologies, I saw an unanswered question and decided to answer it.

and, with that:

Allison_W's questions

FOmar has boosted Foie, Barta, and Zonde (120%) spells. Better options for various situations, but with only six action pallet spots you are filling a lot up. FOmarl has a boosted Grants (125%) and Resta (130%), less boosted magics but Grants is a very nice spell to have boosted. The statistical differences are the same standard differences between male and female. HUmar has better HP, AtP, DfP, FOmarl has better TP, AtA, Evade, and Tech.

If you want to know what the other FO classes boost: FOnewm boosts Foie, Barta, Zonde, Megid, and Grants (115%) but has a lowered Resta (70%). FOnewearl boosts Megid (125%) and Resta (130%). Giving FOne the opposite of FOmarl.

Yeah, I heard about the boost levels on the JP Wiki. That they goofed with the FOmar and FOmarl and took the former's high EVP and MST and the latter's high HP and DFP is pure foul ghettomancy. Granted, so is the fact that Phantasy Star remains firmly behind the times with gender-based stat differences, but eh.

Just wanted to say thank you for the Famitus-like thread. You obviously put a lot of time & effort into this. I like Famitsu magazine because of the attributes of: lots of pictures, less eyecandy/more showing 'how to play' pics, and more information then you might get from the game manual (LOL).

Not if it's stickied. Lol at one year necro.

I forgot I even wrote this. I think that post took me about two hours. All I did was take screen caps of the Japanese website and wrote translations for each part. Glad I could be of help.
