Essentially, they say "Congratulations making it this far but you've still got a long way to go." There is unfortunately no story information in these message boxes.

I had noticed that there are message capsules scattered around maps in story mode. Is there a specific story related person that is leaving them behind? Like how in PSO episode 1 it was Rico Tyrell and in PSO episode 2 it was Heathcliff Flowen's journal.

Outside:
To those who challenge the Tower that streches endlessly past the distant clouds. If you can reach the highest floor, your name will be praised throughout the world.

10:
Challenger, certainly you won't say you are already tired? However, overdoing isn't good. If you wish to leave, return down the path you took, right now.

20:
Challenger, how do you feel? You're still at the point were you can see the ground. If you can keep climbing, climb.

30:
Challenger, perhaps you have started to long for the earth? You won't be able to see it very soon. The world is steadly going to change.

40:
Challenger, perhaps you can no longer see the gound? You can still turn back though. Or you can continue your challenge.

50:
Challenger who reaches for the heavens, how wonderful is your spirit! Do you not tire? The higher floors will not be as easy as they have been up to now.

60:
Challenger who reaches for the heavens, you don't think you've come within sight of the goal yet, do you? You will continue to climb.

70:
Congratulations on making it this far. Challenger, that which you seek is further up. You've come this far, make it to the end.

80:
Look outside. You've already come this far. Very moving, don't you think Challenger? However, the Tower continues on.

90:
What do you think of the view from the heavens, Challenger? However, you only stand at the gate. Continue on.

100:
The heavens welcome you. You've come a long way Challenger. Your climb is not yet finished though. Arrive at your destination.

101:
Welcome to the top. I welcome you. This is the top floor of the Eternal Tower. The honor you have earned will be told of for eternity.

[SPOILER]Don't like my translations? Do them yourself, I'm not very good at this yet.

The messages outside the tower are left by various people, some have names, most don't. The messages in story missions are all related to the story though. During quests, you get the random messages.

And the random messages are usually related to rare monster variations, rare rooms, arena, or just general tips for common enemies in that area

My god, this Endless Tower is utterly stupid. I regret entering myself into a media blackout on the game now; if I knew what I was getting into I wouldn't have bothered with this dumb quest.

Due to the little playtime I get, I've been on this bloody quest for FOUR DAYS.

FOUR DAYS.

And I'm only on the 60th floor!
I was looking to go online with the game at some point this weekend, but by the looks of it I'll be finishing off the tower.

How this completely illogical and moronic idea managed to get into an otherwise terrific game I'll never know.

It's logical. It's a cheap and easy way to lengthen gameplay
It's moronic.. just remember, you have to go through it on each difficulty in order to get the titles for it
And I'd also argue that terrific game part... ;P

I cant find the words to properly convey my dismay at how you are suprised at the length of an area named ETERNAL TOWER. So I'll just state the fact and leave it at it.

Yeah, I'm having a complete blast with it (Endless Tower aside).

I can see myself sinking as much time into this as I did PSO; I imagine I'll enjoy it twice as much once I eventually play it online.

I love me some red box goodness.

(Just noticed I've gained 20 levels so far in the tower, making my character Level 50 - and I've not even started Hard mode yet!)

I thought it was like 50 floors.

Just to find that I'm on 51 right now.

I'm playing Normal, and I don't want to do this again. JESUS, I wish I can save in between or something.

why did you do it on normal? you gain nothing from doing it there except for 5 more inventory spaces from completing it. if you did it on hard, you get the 5 spaces and unlock super hard mode. you also have a chance to find a sealed weapon if you're lucky

I didn't get anything good from there. I got a few rares, but I probably fed them to my Mag on accident.

I completed it and am so angry at it right now.

Are you saying that I CAN'T get the 3rd difficulty without doing this shit?

xSHiNOx
Jan 26, 2009, 06:49 PM
yeah. you MUST complete ALL hard missions to unlock super hard.

how can i tell what the level of difficulty will be for each level? I am assuming it has something to do with the amount of stars displayed at the bottom of each area you can choose since i get less exp from the levels with 1-3 stars.

Can someone let me know how many difficulty levels there are for each level (from what i've read i think its normal >> hard >> super hard.. also is it necessary to complete each stage on every diff. setting?

That was my initial strategy but i'm on eternal tower right now (3 stars - normal?) and after reading this thread i am beginning to think i should quit now before i waste more time and just do the hard/ super hard versions instead - i'm on the 40th floor. ^^;

im pretty sure from the difficulty menu it goes;

super hard
hard
normal.

there is no point in doing normal unless you plan on beating all missions.

violette.kouffz
Feb 19, 2009, 04:07 AM
ok cool, but do those stars indicate the 3 different diff. lvl? if so, how many stars equals normal, and then how many stars for hard, and super hard? or does it actually say n/h/sh somewhere in the stage info area? thx Shino, your always so helpful ^^

Mike

You pick your difficulty level before you pick your mission so that tells you right away but the more stars the harder.

The Eternal Tower sounds difficult... or just stressful for you guys. I think it would be fun... I don't own the game yet, but planning on getting it when it hits US shelves. To be honest, I'm kinda glad they made it that way, having to beat this before unlocking Super Hard. Just me, and I'm not expecting you to agree at all...

i am pretty sure no one likes the tower quest. its too tedious. you take 6+ hours to get up to floor 101 and finally beat the boss there and in the end you get crap items.

Good Heavens! an epic long quest in a PHANTASY STAR game? Oh noeeees!

It's boring as heck. If you could even save and quit between floors it'd be acceptable but...
Gnnnh.

Still, at least the bosses are incredibly easy; the infinite PP photon blast is hilariously powerful if you can get all the CPUs to join in.
