I just beat very hard and can get into Ultimate difficulty, and so has my friend. Why can't we play on ultimate in multiplayer mode.

Thanks for the quick response. Do you know what level requirement for Ultimate is?

All participants have to be level 80 or higher for ultimate multiplayer, just like in online MEOW.
Unless you're barubary

Are you certain? I thought you could access any difficulty setting so long as the first character selected to participate in multiplayer had unlocked Ultimate Mode in offline play themself.

I know this to be true for the other difficulty settings in multiplayer.

It'd be useful/funny if Sasarai was correct. Imagine, a level 1 character in Ultimate mode.

Multiplayer and online rules

Must be level 20 for hard
Must be level 40 for V Hard
Must be level 80 for Ultimate

You may immediatly access any level accessible to the player who has completed the fewest amount of levels at that difficulty offline. However, clearing levels online does not mean they will be immediatly accessible to that player at a later date.

So if you are both level 60 and you have beat Very hard but your friend has only beat the Forests, then right off the bat you can only go into the Forests or the Caves, however if cleared you can continue on to the other levels. But if he beats the Mines, and then plays again some other time, if he hasn't beaten the mines on his own yet you can't go there immediatly.
