How do I create a temp file?

Sorry for asking this question, but I really want to go online but don't want my characters to get corrupted. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. I already lost one set of characters going online, and don't want to loose another. Thanks for any help in advance (BTW: I already read the manual and didn't see it anywhere)

It could be your memory card. I highly suggest the nintendo mem card 56. It has the least corruptions so far. I believe sonic team has alleviated the fsod/corruption problem somewhat but i'm not sure if it's completely gone. I don't think you can make a temp online file though. I hope this helps.

Thanks, I swear I read somewhere that you could make a Temporary save file for online play only, on another memory card. Although it didn't transfer all of your things or something. I could be mistaken.
