But there have got to be (PG-13) stranger.

Matt once went AWOL on a Mexican bus (after falling asleep on a bus going to San Diego, and winding up in Tijuana, he concluded that God must want him to go further South). When he finally got off, he didn't know what city that he was in, only that there was a beach nearby. Now traveling through a mysterious Mexican city, of which he knows only that there is an adjacent beach, when he hears someone yelling at him in Spanish, his instinctive, and thus, immediate response, is to shout loudly and proudly back at him, "FUCK! YOU!". Naturally, the folly of this decision doesn't hit him until several minutes later, but only troubles him long enough for him to come to the brilliant conclusion, "Fuck it. I'm Matt."

I don't know when or how he learned Spanish, but he is fluent, regardless.
