2.) Why is there 2 deposit boxes?

Yes you can trade online with other people: talk to the bank girl, select the third option, a trade window appears for both characters to add items to.

The first box is just for your character, the second box is for all 3 of your characters, they can all access it, its basically to trade things easily between your characters.

It's basically the common box from PSU, if you've played that. Not sure there's much more to add to this. Sodandy said it quite well.
