Are you talking about the mission that is about three put together? If so, you can stop when the monsters and area look different. For whatever reason, they assume you know they're separate missions, but they automatically throw you into the next mission until you beat the game.

yeah i noticed that. i had turned it off earlier today. thought i was gonna have to do it all again when i made this thread.

Ah, I see. It would suck so much to do that robot mission again (it is terribly long...) I've only done that mission once, if you don't count the optional quests.

If you press start, there's a page indicator in the bottom right area of the DS screen. If you go to the 4th page of that menu, you'll get to a chart that keeps track of how many materials you've used, and of what type.
