So using Xlink Kai or Ad-hoc party alows online play, but is it not possible to communicate with the other players?
And how easy is it getting a game? Do you all wait around in a lobby until all the players are there? Or is it drop in drop out? Also I presume you have to do all the connecting to a game via the PC/PS3 (depending on which method you use).
Thanks!

In Ad Hoc party you can communicate with either keyboard (have to press Enter before you can type) or headset. Ad Hoc uses a lobby system akin to PSO where you have a main lobby then smaller house-like rooms where you actually launch into the games from. You can chat using the keyboard in either the lobbies or the rooms but I think the headsets are restricted to just the rooms.

Thanks for the info.
So I presume the keyboard chat only works onscreen on the PS3 TV? Kind weak but better than nothing. Headset support is good though, although I would prefer some methode of keyboard chat, but that would be painful on the PSP I guess.

Yeah, that and PSP games that have multiplayer are built around ad hoc, which kind of makes text chat silly as the other players are literally right there... normally.
