What's the word on it now? I heard it back in 2005. How much longer do you have before they trash the game?

This is like saying "Hey, I hear you're going to die in a few decades. How long do you think you have?"

All you likely heard about PSU shutting down was speculation, considering the dwindling playerbase and the game itself declining. Some members here were just rationalizing when it would cease being worth it for Sega to continue to maintain the PSU servers.

You heard it back in 2005? Was the game even up in 2005?

Your concern is touching. Glad to know your care about when our game is supposed to die.
I am not amused.

Obvious troll is obvious.

I really wish people would stop doing that stupid "Adjective-subject-is-Adjective" thing. Very annoying.

Why is everyone such an asshole with their replies?

The game was released in 2006 and Sega originally said it had a 5 year lifespan.

Who really knows if this really applies to the US/EU servers and it could be longer for Japan considering Sega is letting people pay for extra options in the game.

Reading into the way he asked the question may explain why some of us answered the way we did.

Fixed it for your pleasure. *snip* Way to ignore the reason behind my original reply.

I don't have a source for this, but I do remember reading about a "5-year-plan for PSU".

i also read that they said the portable phantasy stars were meant to be junk and that their main focus would never be on portable versions so don't touch those.

Sounds like you read a review instead of a press release.

Interesting... Didn't know telling people not to play their games was a good marketing strategy now.

They didn't say it like that but it's a nice way of saying the portables wont be anything special in relation to home versions. You can pick up on stuff like this all the time if you open your ears. It's no secret that there are crap games out there designed specifically for the dumb dumbs who dont pay attention or actually like playing those kinds of low end fodder games.

Actually, I remember hearing somewhere, I don't remember where, that the game is expected to be up for 7 years.

I don't know, but nothing better than people that pay SEGA monthly for a "trashy" game after already BUYING It (for the most part), and then complaining about it. =D
