I hope you have proof & reported this to Sega before spreading panic news like this.

I sent in a ticket and everyone who had a pwand/pwand board in there shop had it deleted.

Im betting its the same person who deleted Lady Kuja's stuff recently.

Pretty stupid i hope ST can do somthing about this.

There is even a vid on youtube of somone doing this recently

Wow, this is quite the problem... luckily my shops empty seeing as I dont have anything anyone would want anyways. I hope Sega does something about this soon before more problems occure. Though if this is true and if it continues Im assuming a server roll back is bound to happen. Lets just hope not.

Feb 20, 2009, 06:43 PM
...poopy face? ...right...

Well I dont quite know what you mean by another one coming but I was just stating my guesses based on my observation of the problem. Although the longer they wait the worse this is likely to become.

Edit: Okay, I feel I should explain the first line in my post, the guy above me called me a poopy face for some odd reason and has since been banned I assume so his post is gone, just thought I should clear up that little confusion.

There wont be a roll back. It's the weekend and the programmers have to figure out how to patch it.

Wraithind
Feb 20, 2009, 06:59 PM
Well I hope thats the case but if this causes a lot of damage to the game overall they might be forced to do so. If I recall correctly theyve done server rollbacks before that went back a few days so I dont see why it cant happen again. Again, Im hoping it doesnt happen and that they find some other solution but Im just posting my assumptions.

I wish Sega could release the hackers personal info so we can dump gasoline and burn the F-ing house down.

Then Id take a baseball bat and break both of their knee caps and use a spray bottle with turpentine in it and spray on his open soars and watch him scream and suffer.

Anyone else think it's strange that some new questionable people join PSOW within the last few days, then this happens?
No.

Let me explain what happened:

1. Someone was hoarding a bunch of materials and cornering the market on Catiliums and stuff, and it pissed people off.
2. Someone else was bored and decided to hack the above person for shits and giggles and because he probably thought the person deserved it.
3. The person that did the hacking got banned.
4. People who had let the person who did the hacking use their accounts previously got banned.
5. People who had previously let someone who had previously let the hacker use their account use their accounts got banned. Confused yet? Good.
6. People who were closely associated with the above people but may or may not have shared account information with them got banned.
7. A lot of people were confused and pissed off at what they saw as (and, arguably, were) unjust bans.
8. One of these people flipped the fuck out and decided to go apeshit on the server.

It's quite simple, really.

Sega just showed a message on the top telling us to lock our rooms. Uploading the pics now. While we wait, I can recite the message;

"Hello, GUARDIANS! A number of players have reported to us regarding recent shop attacks and hacks. We are continuing to investigate this issue, and in the meantime, advise that players with shops lock their rooms as a preventative security measure. Please check phantasystaruniverse.com for more details as they become available. Thank you!

EDIT: Actual screens. In backwards order, but they're there nonetheless.

My, people are testy lately. I know how the whole hacking bs has played out; I haven't been under a rock the last two years. I just find it odd that we happen to have hacking issues with many PSOW players right after we start getting new people that seem to hate everything. Maybe it's just a coincidence then. Wont know for sure until the person responsible is caught.

Based on my hardboiled investigative reporting techniques, I can now update my previous statement with a more accurate conclusion:

8. The person in section 2 used a separate account originally owned by someone who quit months ago and then gave his account to someone in sections 5 and/or 6, who then gave the login information to the person in section 2, who proceeded to flip the fuck out and go apeshit on the server.

It's quite simple, really.

I don't understand why SEGA won't sue people that do this? Hacking is fairly easy to prove, especially if the idiot is using his/her home PC registered to the account (and they have logs of account logins). Simply file a lawsuit against them, and wait for the 12 year old (Yes, GG Bypassing idiots from Maple Story and other crap games) When he/she is getting touched in prison by Bill, the 42 year old child molester, I'm sure they will regret messing around on the interwebs./

Because they have better ways to spend their time and effort.

Last I checked, the hire outside help to sue people. They do have a legal department, but it is in no way connected to a single branch inside their company. Something like this wouldn't even make it to court either (See FFXI hacking where the guy was sued) case didn't even make it to court, and he agreed to something like a 4000.00+ USD settlement and probation time. No lawyer in his/her right mind would actually try to fight the charges when the person caught hacking is told they have evidence of their home computer which is tied to their account and has been used to log-in to the game the past 4 years was caught with logging tools attempting to hack.

You can't send a 12 year old to prison.

You surely can, but I doubt it would happen for something like this. Kids as young as 15 have been sent to adult prisons for higher crimes. I highly doubt the person would be sent there, but I can assure you they would get a cyber crime attached to their record which would mean they couldn't touch a computer EVER again in their life, along with some other very basic computer based tech in their home without their PO's permission (which would include simple things like TVR) So I think it would be highly worth their time to try and sue this guy/girl.

I lost quite a few good items, I wish I hadn't reset my shop after the maintenance now...

If I were the hacker, I would have just mass hacked meseta and at least bought out the peoples items instead of outright stealing them.

We better get some kind of compensation for this, but knowing SoA and their impotence its not going to happen.

Sega will give back the items taken so its all good.

That is sorta pointless when you cannot remember what you had in your shop. I know some people playing that have a ton of high priced items in their shop, and I'm fairly sure they don't write down what they went to sleep with the night before.

yup, I think compensation the same item like last time is better than rollback! because when you rollback, you effect the whole server including my friend Katy who just got 50% lighting crea double too.

If they rollback, they need to compensation that to her too.

Although it's been said there wont be a rollback, I really hope there is. I think any time I loose playing today from a potential rollback will be nothing compared to what people will loose if they don't get their items back. I agree. If anything, I'd be glad to have some of my tickets back! And even more glad that people will get their hard-earned items back. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for either killer compensation or a rollback.

Sorry for the people affected by this; both the people who lost items and people who found items (Mugunburga, Buti, Yasha, etc.) I really think a rollback is necessary. If they couldn't replace the handful of peoples' items on 360 during lolgbr then they can't replace your items w/o rollback.

They're not even doing that. They banned Zeph's main account, and then accounts of other people that he had used months ago, and then accounts of people that those people had used months ago. Except somehow they missed the one he actually picked to use for shop hacking.

They'll give us killer compensation:

"Hey, you know that Speed King the JP players got from this event? Congratulations! We gave everyone one! Oh, and 10 tickets each."

Nah, I'm just playing. I think the reason why so many items are missing now are people are locking their shops. I'm kind of upset that this is cutting into my "wanna find my 3 female characters a Madam Brella that doesn't cost 10 mil" time.

On an unrelated note.......... if anyone finds a Madam Brella and wants to sell it for like, 5 mil or less, feel free to let me know.

Ok looks like no rollback. We are getting our stuff back one item at a time so make a list and they will confirm that you had the item. Also we are voting on the name of the "Shred the Darkness" event and we will have acces to all items including Holy Ray/D, whitill wing, and healing SUV.

I'm an innocent ban :/

They banned me because Zephyr's been on my account at one point in the past, before he started hacking. Zephyr and IG's OptimusPrime were the ones responsible for hacking Lady Kuja's room. After that they banned those two, and everyone who's somehow linked to Zephyr.

Because of this, several innocent players like myself and pretty much everyone in my close-knit group of friends I play with regularly were banned. There's at least six accounts I can name off to be completely innocent, and only banned because Zephyr has been on their accounts at one point. Even if those accounts weren't involved in any cheating or hacking whatsoever.

Now you guys are probably wondering why we share accounts. Our group of friends pretty much trusted each other with our account data. Probably not the most secure thing ever, since this incident caused our bannings, but that's how we were.

As for those Mugunruk boards, I'll admit it. I asked the next wave of hackers to leave my room alone. I was banned yesterday anyway, so it's not like I'm benefiting from it anyway. I tried to tell them to leave Drex's boards alone too, but it was too late. Sorry man :/

Edit: OptimusPrime has had to have been banned several times now. He's one of the original hackers, not sure from TGM but Ive seen old screen shots of him with max money when the game first came out.

Or shit GMs who can't even prevent the hacking's from happening in the first place. Who try to stop it by banning anyone associated with said hacker, regardless of their innocence, yet the hacking continues. These guys suck hard and it's hilarious.

Let the madness spread.

Smidge204
Feb 21, 2009, 06:57 AM
I'm willing to bet GMs don't have any ability to affect the game's programming. I'm also willing to bet they are not clairvoyant, so GMs have no choice but to act retroactively. Maybe if those who associated with the hacker(s) had the common sense to blow the whistle on them, they wouldn't be banned. Knowing someone is doing something illegal and not doing anything about it is itself illegal.

If you want to get pissed at someone not preventing the hacking in the first place, get pissed at the programmers. Credit where credit is due.

It's more of a morale rule than a real law. If you know someone is trying to commit suicide, you're asked by the community, not by the law, to try to prevent that person from doing so. If you don't try, you'll be frowned upon.

And I'm not going to stop hanging out with him because of what he does.

If you disapprove someone's actions, why would you still hang out with that person? Though you may be tolerating his actions for the better of your friendship or you may think your friend has good reasons for his actions. But if you take the extreme; that a friend of yours suddenly does things that he isn't used to do, your friend would be a completely different person. Would you still see the friend you once saw?

ShuttleXpC
Feb 21, 2009, 07:25 AM
I dunno about you, but I'm kinda glad they banned you. If you have any dealings with these people it likely wasn't ever good. If they had been hacking (money or other things before this) you would actually sit there and tell me you wouldn't be tempted to take the free hacked items these people made? I hate hacking, and I KNOW I would be tempted. So I'm sure you had some sort of beneficial relationship there. So, sounds like SEGA did an outstanding job banning all those associated players.

I don't want to start a fight here, but honestly think of it the way I am and I'm sure you will also be glad these people were banned.

If you insist on using traffic infractions as an analogy...

Your friend is a street racer. He has his license suspended because of it. If you lend him your car so he can street-race, you're going to be in trouble too.

Of course, this only works if you insist on equating exploiting the game and the ramifications that has on other players with speeding and the ramifications that has on other citizens. If you really think they carry equal weight in their own context you are brain damaged.

I'm really curious why these people (friends or whatever) of the people banned really expect sympathy from us, or anyone for that matter. You were his/her friend, you obviously knew they hacked, someone just doesn't get hacks one day and is an expert at using them or their little UCE. You knew they were doing something weird, likely duping items or something similar (Which I'm sure you reaped the benefits from). Someone just doesn't get hacks one day and simply knows how to screw people's rooms up (albeit easy, but you would still need to know your way around the UCE). So please, stop trying to get sympathy. Be on your merry way, your characters are gone. The END.

You people must not have many friends if you drop people based on whether or not you agree with everything you believe in.

And smidge, nobody lent him an account for hacking. A better analogy would be going to jail because you're married to a vandal and you live in the same house, drive the same car, etc. And when you're arrested, instead of knowing what charges are being brought against you, you're told "you know what you did," or "we don't have to tell you." And they don't let you fight said charges.

They're simply going off of guilt by association, which is a flimsy excuse for banning over six people over the course of a few hours.
