Argh, how do I mod weapons, or use that pipe smoking tent guy?

I have probably 40 diamonds of something (it's that 99 one), but I have no clue how to utilize them.
I don't speak Japanese, and everytime I visit that guy at the tent I've got nothing to show for it.
Anybody got a translation for me, or at least a quick run-down of what to do? That would be really appreciated

The first option is to apply a status effect to a weapon. The materials are listed above. If a weapon has no status to start with, it will become lvl 1. Weapons with lvl 2 or higher status to start with will gain the new status and remain at the same lvl. Some rare weapons that come with status cannot be changed.

The second option is to increase the elemental damage of a fully grinded weapon 5, 10 or 15%. You can choose from native, creature, machine or dark, and the choices are listed in that order. The results are random.

I have 2 spears that I can grind both are Lv. 20 and are 5☆ weapons... dont know which i should use the grinder on though?!

ahh didnt see your post Tuscan... ok so im confused even more then lol.. i checked the list u put up and i dont seem to have any elemental green diamonds.. can weapons come pre-grinded? How does one grind :D

So basically all this time I've walked into that tent without a weapon that had any points that could be modified?
I find that hard to believe, I wish I could read japanese.
The only thing that dude has said to me was he wanted to buy a fully grinded weapon, which means he can read my inventory.
But I've come in there with rare weapons and I don't get a peep.
I still don't understand the protocol on when or what he does, or how to give him stuff to alter
(I assume he's like the dude in powerstone 2, but far more vague)

Well, I do know I have some level 2 weapons, but maybe I don't have anything that can be altered yet, which is a bummer since I know for a fact I have at least one rare weapon.
So what does that pipe smoker do, if all those elements that I've got I can use on my own, like a mono di or trigrinder?

SO I can only use those elements or mechs after a weapon has been fully grinded? I believe you, but why couldn't I do that before? Maybe the only weapon I have that's fully grinded is also one that can't be added to
