I might be the only one who actually prefers having a Real Hand Gun over the crap originally intended.
So I'm happy with it.

I won't lie though.
I participated to a couple player-based treasure hunting/hide and seek events that were handled way better than this one.
This was just messy and confusing. I ended up sitting on a bench in Moatoob and talking with people through mails till' the "mystery sentence" we had to shout for the gun showed up on the screen.

What I wanna know is how're they gonna disperse the free stuff if they have to go through 15 minutes of spam? What if they miss people who decided they didn't wanna spam? That's not fair to those people. They need to figure out better ways to handle these events or not have them at all as much as some of you guys might not like that idea because it's handled so poorly.

The server logs check it. You think the previous events we had where you had to say a certain line of chat weren't JUST THE SAME?

If you said it once, you get the item. If you said it 1000 times, you get the item. They aren't going to miss you because everyone else was spamming.

No word on Lavis Cannon in PSU, but it is in PS:P.

For those who had ideas on ways to make the event better, what would you have changed? What solutions do you have that could still involve most of the playerbase, while also offering a unique event for players?

i had fun, it was amusing to see the entire population online legging it all over the place. talk about chaotic! :p a shame about the spam, i was unable to see what the character was saying sometimes, or even where they'd run off to.

i missed out what happened at the end, i didn't find the correct lobby until it was all over.

i actually liked this. it was a nice change to the usual spam of a single mission....

i dont know how you would go about this but there should be a way to stop people spamming all the time.

also were you one of those characters. damn the GMs for teaseing me with these new clothes!. didnt see helga but vivennes close looked awsome

Have em say it ONLY IN THEIR ROOMS.

It'd prevent mass-spam clouds.

Uh, keep it to one Universe?

There are too many places to look, then you decided to increase it by tenfold(And even moreso on 360 servers), which wouldn't be so bad, but changing universes disbands your party. And if you're looking with multiple people, mail is clumsy.

Really unorganized.

It makes it easier for people on 360, because there's a party system where you can talk to others no matter what game/where you're located in game. xD

Well for one, if GMs have such a command, a global /mute needs to be used to allow only the GMs to talk, then let players talk.

Another is to specify that players only need to say a key phrase ONCE and ONLY ONCE (if one is involved in the event). Of course that may not cut down on the retards who have to spam in order to validate their existence.

PLEASE don't do events where people have to team up with a GM for missions; I HIGHLY doubt you'll have the time in the day to do missions with every single person there.

And maybe multiple GMs could hop on to help split things up and keep the clutter and slowdown and/or lag to a minimum. I have a feeling that special character skins like Vivienne and Helga can be used by multiple GMs at once.

While the event was... sorta fun for a while (yay for screenshots with Vivienne! ^_^ ) it could have still been done a lot better. A global mute could do wonders in improving things.

I think the biggest problem in all those events is that you're only one or two GMs (even though I heard there was a third one this time) at a time to handle a whole server.
No matter how good the event idea would be, it's doomed to fail if it implies having one GM and an overcrowded lobby of players running after him. Nothing, even clear official explanations, will prevent retards from spamming in lobbies and prevent GMs from talking properly to the crowd.

In my opinion, this event would have been better with a Vivienne + Helga on several universes ; would have separated the crowd in smaller ones outside of Caelum and would have made the thing more enjoyable.
Also, that universe switching was damn confusing. Never did I notice clearly said that we had to search for Helga on another universe as the one on which Vivienne was waiting. Having to search in every lobby of a given planet AND on every universe was way too vague for such a short amount of time the event was running for.

I know that would demand much more human resources than what you can actually provide, but last time I participated in those kinds of event, we had a guy gathering all the participants at the beginning and giving the first hint/riddle about where to go next, then in the next location, someone else was waiting for the participants during the whole event to give his own hint to the next place, and so on with further locations, till the end. (And this was on v.1 so it was also quite thrilling to have our little teams of three or four going to make their way to Foran before the others in order to get the next location where we had to go and stuff.)
But on the other hand, they didn't have a whole server population to handle on this ; only like twenty teams of 3/4 people at best.

At least I saw Vivienne once, next time sit in some chair so no one can cover the character (like a huuuuge fat CAST, in a speedo), with so much people most players will try at least to see the character, damn I had to go to an isolated universe to spam my lavis cannon without lag!

Running around the universe randomly checking lobbies and servers is not fun. You should make it more of a puzzle. Give them a riddle or something, and that riddle would give clues to where she is, rather than this Find a Needle in a Haystack bullshit. >>

I think I enjoyed it, but I wish there was some way I could have actually seen what was going on through all the spam. A breakdown would have been nice, you know, with a couple pairs of GMs doing the same stuff at the same time. I like these events, I just don't like the behavior of most of my fellow Guardians when these events come up. >_>;

Yes a needle in the haystack "Helga is located on ""either universe 17 or 18""" (rofl) All the lobbys in moatoob. and then you say either on 17 or 18?? AND THEN.. Hurry Guardians you have 3 minutes left. Hurry.. Most of the time was spent changing lobbies/universes then actually looking for Helga? Mannn

ChibiBecca
Mar 6, 2009, 09:15 PM
i liked the guesswork involved, although it was sheer luck when i found Helga on neudaiz. i'd remembered which lobbies she'd appeared on on the last two runs, and just chose a likely place.
how dare she try to blow up the holy grounds. :<

a mute button for the GMs would be a brilliant idea! i was unable to even see the two characters as some points from the sheer amounts of spam bubbles covering the screen, let alone catch their conversation.

Mar 6, 2009, 10:00 PM
I like how I accidentally logged on an alt that didn't have all the lobbies nor any meseta, but yet I guessed the right planet and Uni

The best part of the event was the machine gun-like spam at the end. In MAG it was annoying, now it was humorous

The worst part is that this is still a weak excuse for pacification considering there's no knowledge when/if we'll ever get the exclusive items, we don't get Innocent Girl, and the US version of PSPo is still gimped with no DLC

gg SEGAC may we please have another?! (everybody bend over now!)

Just to clarify... it has never been stated that US servers will not get the Innocent Girl mission. For item delivery, more news will come out regarding the date in the next couple of weeks.

Finally, it has also not yet been announced about whether the additional content from Japan (their upcoming batch) will come to the US. Official news on these will be arriving in the months to follow.

i did all that running around, and at the end lobby, when the spam started, i got booted. i laughed, thinking that at least i got off my shout before it happened.

i think it would be better to have the next one limited to two or three universes at the most, or increase the time limit, as there's so many universes(on PC and the Circle).

I liked this lil event ^^
I dont have any solutions to make anything better and dont really think there's anything else that can be done. The only thing I suggest is to do things like this more often :D
ppl always get a lil thrill when GM's do something to play with them and get them involved with the game so I think NPC events are always a good idea. It's just too bad it cant be done more often and randomly. Like just having Mirei or whoever, suddenly show up one day with no announcements and give random ppl who see her something little like mimic dolls, x5 catilium or some other (non uber rare) mat lol. Just basic things that wont make ppl cry foul.

Does this mean we may or may not be receiving the big supplemental, or updates their eventually going to get?

I thought it was a lot of fun, too. I tried to participate in every one, but I got two in. I almost saved Neudaiz with my dice-rolling skills, but alas, Helga's were superior.

Anyway, I thought it was an interesting way to mix up the day, and I'm definitely looking forward to Sega doing things like this more. As for a previous suggestion, I think that the "global/mute" button would exponentially help with the moronic spammers, so the players who actually want to be patient and/or obedient don't have to suffer.

No, he just simply want to point out that there is no official announcement.

We are likely to get it if not that population drop lower and lower until it doesn't worth update anything with. (especially xbox is the real factor they update for both server right now)

i have just one suggestion. if you want us to make parties so we can pan out and search easier. dont make us change universes... that was ridiculous. finding someone in a certain lobby is bad enough but random uni's and constant remaking parties was just annoying, not fun at all.

i liked the event itself though it was entertaining to do something different.

Personally I enjoyed the event, however it needed to be more structured and less reliant on having to party up with other people. It was also quite annoying how anyone who located Helga was given a large clue where to find her next, yet anyone who couldn't make it in time was just told "Helga has moved somewhere else". These are the few suggestions I'd give which would have really improved it:

1: Switching servers after each attack was a decent idea, but Helga should always have been found on the same server that Vivienne is waiting on. Having to check every lobby on 3 planets, across 10 different servers was just silly.

2: As mentioned by others, if possible everyone in the vicinity of Vivienne and Helga should be muted and prevented from moving when they were talking. Under all the item phrase spam, you couldn't see them or what they were saying.

3: Clues to the next location should be broadcast to everyone, however they shouldn't specify a planet and they should be quite obscure.

4: The final location should be in an easy to access or commonly used area, in the second PC/PS2 event there was huge numbers of people begging for people to take them to Habirao FD: Village and as such they completely missed out on the confrontation between Helga and Vivienne.

On a side note the event was a lot less "open" to PS2 players, each time Vivienne ran off through a loading screen it was impossible to keep up with her as the loading times are much higher on the PS2. In particular during the first event while on the Guardians Colony, Vivienne had ran from 4F down to the universe orb on 1F while I was still stuck loading 2F. It would have been better if Vivienne had stopped a few times to regroup everyone.

I am an Xbox 360 player.

I tried to do all four events, but was only able to do the first two (blasted work)!

11:00 AM (PST):

Event started without a hitch (but not all players could join the active universe). Seemed to be four parts.

Part 1 - Guardians Colony, Helga sighted on Floor 2
Part 2 - Moatoob, Helga sighted in Casino Voloyal
Part 3 - Neudaiz, (can't remember lol)
Part 4 - Parum, (can't remember name) Helga apprehended, Vivienne and Helga exchange banter, secret phrase revealed

My party seemed to be the 1st or 2nd team onsite almost every time (yay!). The Xbox live party system was awesome!
Traffic was heavy, but did not create major lag.
Spammers were rampent and people mobbed the GMS (idiots).
Hint Banners were great.

2:00 PM (PST):

This seemed to break down real fast!

Part 1 - Guardians Colony, not sure where sighted
Part 2 - Parum, sighted on II Cabo Base (for a second)
Part 3/4 - To me the event seemed to have ended prematurly (no more hint banners after the brief sighting on Parum [and it was 2:56PM]), secret phrase was given

Massive lag and delays (took literally 3-4 minutes to zone)
No hint banners between parts to narrow search.
My party didnt even see Vivienne nor Helga even once ...
More spammers

BOTTOMLINE:
Event IDEA was great (scavenger hunt was awesome).

Event execution was poor (two people to manage 100k+ players ...?).

I want more GM active events similar to this.

Way to reduce/prevent spamming would be awesome.

Keep in mind that Universe specific events are not great (player turnout was greater than max space in one universe).

More unique rewards would be desired.

More time in between event deadlines (one hour for a massive undertaking like this = unfinished events like the 2PM one). I suggest giving each system their own DAY (example: Xbox 360 March 6th, PC/PS2 March 7th). That would give more options for time slots, letting more of the player base join.

I will think of more suggestions later lol ...

I'm pretty convinced that most of PC/PS2 are held in cages, only to be released on GM events like this, because you never see that many people in one place normally

Pretty funny really, it's so quiet everywhere until a GM event comes along, then people appear from nowhere to spam it up
