Pretty self-explanatory: What are you currently listening to as you post on this thread?

Currently, I'm listening to "You're the Best Around" by Joe Esposito.

(Mods, if this thread has already been done, feel free to move or lock the thread.)

Been trying to improve on playing polymeter on guitar, so I've been jamming to lots of polyrhythmic stuff today, mainly these two songs. Not as easy as they may sound :X

Been listening to the self-titled Avenged Sevenfold album lately. I've taken a liking to "A Little Piece of Heaven" in particular. It finally clicked what the song was about yesterday when listening to it.

yeah, that last a7x disc is very good. probably one of my favorite metal albums to date.

been listening to "sick puppies" lately...a newer band that's been getting some attention for a couple tracks on their last album and a new track that's being featured on the street fighter 4 commercials. they have a bit of an "our lady peace" sound, so if you enjoy that band I'd check them out.

other then that, a lot of the cult. very good spring time driving tunes :)

There's two songs in particular I've been listening to a lot lately:

First is 'Kill For You' by Anarchy Club. It's basically the details of a shop armed robbery, but the lyrics flow so well.
[spoiler-box]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb29Yl5DfDQ[/spoiler-box]

Second is 'Never Enough' by Dream Theater. It's fairly short...for Dream Theater, but is packed with technicality. Plus, I love synth solos being added to typical band setups

Just got a few CDs today with some of the change I've been saving for a couple years and Michael Bolton's "Love Songs" album was one of them (the others were "Classic #1 Hits of the 70s", "Every Breath You Take" album by The Police, and "The Definitive Collection" of Lionel Richie if you were curious). A lot of their solos are based around the similar structure but the only album I bothered to get only had like... 2-3 instrumentals and the rest were actual songs where they sing and stuff. I didn't like them though. You should check them out either way, but I hope you don't get as disappointed as I did lol >.>

I didn't think NPR counted. That's about all I listen to on the radio anymore. Dunno how into late 60's/early 70's sounds you are, but on one of their programs NPR did an interview and expose on Sixto Rodriguez, who by all rights should have been a legend over here - but somehow just couldn't make it. Though he did gain a massive following in Australia and S. Africa. So chalk this up on my list of recently listened to songs, since you reminded of that.

Currently Dream Theater's 'In The Presence Of Enemies'. The song is split into two parts (first and last song on Systematic Chaos), but even the 2nd part is so long, I've had to split it into two videos plus an additional one for In the Presence of Enemies Part 1, so this is the whole song (all 25 minutes of it).

But on topic, I've been listening to Gallows' The Vulture (Act II), which just debuted a few days ago. I'm not much of a punk fan but something about their first album impressed me. Opening theme for Damages, the latest thing I'm watching.
"When I Am Through with You" - The VLA (http://www.myspace.com/thevlaband)

Many thanks for digging that song out. I was really appreciating it while I was watching the first season of Damages on TV some time ago, but never managed to find out the title/artist in the credits. Now I can get my hands on it.

SpikeOtacon's signature got the itch started. Everyone who listens to the Dead has their one favorite song. This is mine.

Dangerous55 - Love Ashokan's Farewell. Always hits me when I hear it. Not only is the music hauntingly beautiful, and the words heartwrenching - but I have some unique memories attached to that song.

I wouldn't say 'prefer' myself, as both have a very different way of singing, and I happen to like both, but I definately love how Annette's voice mixes well with the new celtic stuff they got into with this album.

(And even though it's mostly thanks to Marco, I effin' love The Islander + Last of the Wilds.)

I just prefer Annette's voice to Tarja's really (though I know a lot of Nightwish fans would want me hung, drawn and quartered for saying it). Don't get me wrong, I still like how Tarja sounds; but just not as much as Annette.

Well, to each his own, I guess.
I think Tarja's voice fits better to epic symphonic stuff (such as Wishmaster or Planet Hell) while Annette definately does a great job at more irish/celtic stuff (The Islander, Amaranth, 7 Days to the Wolves... I don't think I'd have appreciated them as much with Tarja, really). As far as I'm concerned, Tarja leaving the band didn't really influenced how I like Nightwish because they managed to adapt their style to fit with their new singer (not to add her voice blends better with Marco's). And for what I've read about her behaviour, Tarja HAD to get booted.
Which a lot of "Nightwish fans" fail to understand, because they're basically Tarja fans. I like her voice, but definately not going to follow her solo career. Tarja without Nightwish instrumentals = heh, no. Most have bawwed because they were used to the 'good ol' Nightwish' and feared the change. On my end, I find the change pretty nice. I always been bored easily of bands who weren't taking the risk to radically change their style from one album (or even one song) from another.

Anyways, I said a few weeks ago I was listening to ALBATROSICKS but didn't post any video because the very few I could find on Youtube were either short edits or not the ones I'd have picked.
So I uploaded one I happen to like myself. Prolly gonna put another later on, with a slightly different style (the only constant thing in their songs is the abuse of vocoding, especially on miko's voice ).
