I am having PSO problems, as usual =(

I use Earthlink DSL 1.5Mbit/128k

This is my 3rd time having a BSOD in the two sessions i've been online. After about 10 minutes of playing, whether I joined a game, or if I created it myself...I get the discconect message.

I press start as it says, and instead of going to the save screen, the screen fades to black, and never moves from there. reset button doesn't work...soft reset doesn't work, pulling out the ethernet cable doesn't work, even popping open the lid doesn't get the gamecube to recognize anything and to ask me to close it.

I have to physically power down(using the power button)...then when I go into ffline or online, my character omits data blah blah, and I lose all the items I didn't have equipped.

This wouldn't be so bad if it didn't happen EVERYTIME I GO ONLINE. I cannot afford to keep buying mates and fluids and everything else I need.

My connection info is correct, I use a BroadMAX UHP DSL Modem.

The connection is PPPoE. I heard PSO doesn't like it =/

Do I need a router that will assign my Gamecube under dhcp? Any help is appreciated http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif I browse the net fine =/

I finally find a gamecube broadband adapter...and now I have these problems >_<

P.S.T. The BSOD is not the grinding sound one I've seen on these boards...it does not make a noise. I also have never had this problem offline whatsoever.

I have some more information to add. I tested going online, and just trying to simulate a disconnect. I would sign on into a lobby, then I would pull the cat5e cord from the gamecube bb adapter...my game would say error blah blah 100, disconnected...then I'd go to the black screen, then after about 5 seconds, the game would save.

Now, everytime I get disconnected by the server (i.e. not pulling the plug myself), it goes through this same situation, but I never get past the black screen...cannot soft reset, cannot hard reset, have to power down...

So... I hope this helps... it's bugging me alot =( I got another 2 bsod tonight. /sigh

If this continues on, and it ends up being a problem only on the gamecube side...I'll just switch over to the xbox version =(

Faendryl:

Finally somone that uses the same service I do! I also use Earthlink DSL 1.5m, through Sprint. I was having the same exact problem for months. I finally decided to go out and buy a router. Well it works and it does not work. I still get disconnected all the time but now it saves every single time. I no longer get to that black screen as I was before.

By the way: Do you run bandwidth tests? I never get the full 1.5mb that they promise. Actually the past few days the average has been about 700k. I also find that if someone calls it lags for about 30 sec. So if someone calls on my phone while I am playing I will for sure get knocked off. Lol... I thought with DSL phone calls would not interfere with bandwidth.

I am provisioned through covad, and I run about 1275/108...which is to be expected from overhead.

I don't know how sprint is, but if it is like Verizon commisioned territory, you would be capped at 768/128.

My Netgear RP614 has stopped me from getting the disconnects.

You probably need to run a Microfilter to each phone jack where you are using a telephone or other analog device. Microfilters reduce interference between your phone calls and your DSL signal.

You might want to sign up for a free forum account at dslreports.com. Check out the Earthlink forum the people are very helpful, and can help you tweak your settings so you have the correct MTU and RWIN settings on your nic/modem/router.

Are you running your dsl modem in bridged mode by the way? the modems earthlink uses from about 2002 till present have built in basic nat/dhcp/pppoe negotiation/router.

If you use a store bought router, you NEED to disable those built in function in the earthlink modem, so that it acts like all other normal dsl modems. You can find out how to do that at dslreports.com

Also ask there how to set proper settings with DrTCP.
