Yes, both OFFline and ONline are playable on the PS2 version of the game.

Good luck... I started on the ps2 and it was ok until AOI came out. Once we all upgraded to that, I would get slowdown SO bad from almost anything (may have just been my 7 year old ps2 finally starting to die). My PC is old and crappy (I *HAVE* to play this on the LOW settings) but even with that in mind, its much better then what I was doing on ps2. Now I can actually play in full parties with minimal slowdown.
Oh and 3x faster load times is a nice step up too. Either way, good luck and have fun.
