So I have been only playing offline and PSzero as of now.

And I was thinking back to the PSO days on Dreamcast.
And I just wanted to see how many PSO vets are still around.
I am only talking about the players that where on the Dreamcast version. Ver.1 or 2 is fine.

Been around, yeah. I never did get very far due to the monthly fees (in addition to the crappy crappyness of dial-up connectivity).

I was a players on day 1 on dreamcast and was so into it that I ordered the japanese copy of V.2 and played that for a few months before the american version was even available. God, I remember back when the original doublesaber was the shit.

Basically I played both versions on the Dreamcast(hmmmmmm dreamcast.) and then I played it on the gamecube. I Absolutely refused to play C.A.R.D (if i wanted to play a card based game i would go buy pokemon or yugioh)and i missed out on blue burst as my pc was too weak to handle it at the time.

I nearly didn't get into PSU because it wasnt on a system i liked or owned(I had, but hate ps2, I don't have xbox.) but i got a laptop for crimbo and took the plunge.

Been around since the PSO was first released on GameCube. I was 9 when I first played it and have been using the same character name on PSO/PSU for 7 years now. :|

Raven 51, our scenarios are very similar. I wanted PSO BB so bad but didn't have a PC that could play it. the game would literally start and crash as soon as the lobby loaded... it was that crappy. I think it was a 300mhz CPU with a bulit in graphics card :(

anyways, I didn't want to miss out on again so I actually bought a 360 the same week PSU came out (it was a birthday present from my wife in fact). I got a much better PC now, a wedding present for myself (for our second wedding; it's complicated) and I play PSO BB on ******** as well.

I'm a PSO vet, been playing since day 1 on the american release for ver1. Always used a character called Mad Dogg. What a nub I was on my first day online, I had a black outfit humar with spikey red hair lol. I also was amazed and stupified when I found out you can do a 3 hit combo, it was like oh snap.

I also remember the big double saber craze. It was nuts, people in the lobbies and games asking and looking for one like crazy, and I day, a guy that was bragging about his double saber died to a critical belra punch. I never once stole from a dead body, but this guy was pissing every one in the game off, so my mind snapped from his annoyingness and my nooby self wanting a double saber, so I swiped his and logged off. I still feel bad that I did that to this day, but boy did having a double saber during the craze own.

My favorite pso version was definitely gamecube pso. The gamecube controller was like made for pso, it was so comfy, the best fire affects, and the load times were the best. Then I played xbox pso, which I lost a 197 hucast because the xbox died lol.

The reason I played so many PSOs was always that promise that the next version would have no cheating in it. I was actually suped for blue burst since it was a online only pso that had your characters on sega's side, but we all know how that turned out.

That is why I'm hoping somehow, someway, we get a PSOBB port on xbox live arcade. I would finally be able to play a PSO that can stay clean for a change, but that most likely will never happen with them concentrating on PSU, I can only dream for a dupe/hack free PSO =(

I'm somewhat of a Vet. I guess...
I played on Dreamcast, Gamecube, and PSU PS2/PC. Never got into PSOBB much though... I kept playing PSO on GC even after it closed down! ;) ;)
Always played all versions under the name Kdouble or Skywalker!
...lol remember when trading consisted of dropping an item on the ground and hoping the other person didn't drop ya something fake? Wow, the "old days"!! XD

Oh yeah, I definitely remember that. I'd always drop a fake first, and If they actually did the trade then I would drop what I really wanted to trade, it was awful trading back then lol. Remember when you did play, you had a rare or whatnot you used it, but If you came to a chaos bringer/hildebear/ or any enemy you thought could one shot you, you switched your rare out to something you could careless got stolen, it was basically you can own rares but never used them in fear of dieing, man those days stunk lol.

Played v2 on dreamcast for a short time. Came at the end. Never did renew my hunters license and played about 2 months out of the 3.

That was really the first online game I ever played. I still have the poster that came in the strategy guide.

But those people with codebreakers ruined the fun for me. So went to nfl 2k3 for a bit, then got hooked on quake and moved to computers and played quake for years.

It was totally by luck I am playing PSU. Got xbox for a gift and was looking through the demos and saw PSU and almost freaked out. Had the same feeling to me as PSO did, and figured this time I can really play. Bought the full game the next day and been playing ever since.

LOL... it was SO annoying to have to go ALL the way back to where you died to pick up your wep/meseta when your soloing too...

You kidding me? I had a bad dialup connection (it was free so I can't complain) and I lost connection around every 90 minutes, maybe 100 minutes or so? anyways, If I died I was SO FREAKED that I would lose the connection! it was torture!

I bought a DC VMU copier and that was never an issue again. neither was NOL :)

DAMASCUS
Apr 16, 2009, 09:58 PM
Yeah I was on PSO back in February of 2001!! Can you believe it?

I remember I used a free dial-up for that too lol XD

My first character was a RAcast named Frost. My favorite weapon with him was Chain Sawd...yep back then Rangers could use it. Awesome.

Dropping your weapon when you died was a serious foul. I didn't lose too many weapons that way but it always made me scream.

DAMASCUS came about on Ver2 and thats been my main ever since..
C-Mode rocked on DC...they really need to bring that back. Custom named weapon too.

Tried Blue Burst for a while but my computer couldn't handle the ruins at all :p

I got into PSO and played PSO DC like... literally months before GC came out. I never went online with DC, but I did with GC eventually.

I played GC for quite a long time. Eventually my FOnewm became level 186 before I finally quit.

I recreated my character in PSU, but that didn't last long. With the community it has, I could not stand to play it much. No offense to any particular individual...

With the way things are, I'm more likely to come back to PSO than PSU. >_>;

I was introduced to the Phantasy Star series in 2002, where I played my friends DC ver.2 for a day. Only got to Caves 2 as a HUmar (lol everyone picks HUmar first...)
Found a Brand and a Sword and I thought it was the most uberest thing ever.

He told me it was coming out for GC in a couple weeks, so I bought it first day.
I've been playing Phantasy Star ever since. Found PSOW in 2003, not going to lie...
I was 13, it was my first forum I had ever joined, and I was a complete idiot. I regret a lot of my first posts <______<

Anyways, I still play PSOBB on a regular basis. I just recently started to play PSU again actually.

I started playing PSO on the gamecube when I was 15... My brother and I had to share a memory card and a cube, so we constantly drove each other crazy. We would fight like dogs over who's turn it was to play. We spent so much time playing that our parents decided we were addicted, and forced us to cancel our accounts... it was lame. I remember crying at one point, because our GC crashed while we were online, and it corrupted our memory card... I was like level 132 and he was 108 or something. It ended up being a decent time to quit anyways though, because the hacking and duping were becoming pretty obnoxious... all those angel wing mags and BKB's. Then when people figured out how to turn your character into an NPC? Lame.

I just recently started playing PSU on the 360 (like, in January). I played it at my brother's house, and was instantly addicted again... went out the same day and bought a 360, PSU, and forced my brother to show me how to hook everything up! lol

Lets see since I started this thread I should list mine lol,

Dreamcast
Day one PSO Japanese Release Import(LOVE NEXT DAY MAIL), Day one Ver.2 same.

Then the PC ver. that was not PSO:BB lol ya I played it.

Game Cube Ep.1 and 2. Then on to EP.3 which to this day I think is one of the better styles of a card game battle plus I love PSO so it was all good.

Then PSU day 1 release beat offline mode the 1st 2 days to lean to play the game then when online.

Took a break since I got allot of crap in my life.

Got Phantasy Star Zero day one release, and I dont play online tho...... but the game is bad ass offline so meh.

Got the expansion and been playing offline.

Today I will be Reloging online to my PSU account. woot

Been on since the DC. Version 1 was free and the online was great. To think back to the days when the name you chose for your character affected the rares you found. Where money meant nothing you looked to trade your rares for other rares that you couldn't possibly find yourself. Where your mag went nuts after you took so much damage and it was a good hobby to raise different types of mags. Those were the days.

Iīve played PSO with Version 2 on Dreamcast.
For like a month or two when i could. My big brother who introduced it to me.

He didnīt really like it, but he knew that i like this kinda of genre.
So he let me borrow his Dreamcast a couple of days.
I were blown away by the game, nothing like anything else i played before.

Then he decided to sell it and the Dreamcast after a while, which made me put a little *sigh*. Then i kinda lost a little interest and tried Diablo & Final Fantasy game, all great and that..but..

A while later, i heard that the Gamecube would get it PSO with another episode.
That made me really excited, i thought i never would see it again.

PSO BB is what introduced me too online portion in the private server.
That is really great stuff.

Iīve still have Gamecube game though, that if anything is not something i will ever sell.
As when the private server is dead, there wonīt be anything left of it.
So you gotta have the second best JIC, but itīs still great offline. =P

Ah, I remember it well,
When I came home from school, I would start up my Dreamcast (33k dialup) and play PSO for hours.
I played v1 and 2 (still have the Dreamcast strategy guide) and I played online on the GC.

I was always D.R.O.I.D 8 (skyle) with my trusty Varaha mag.
I was always a orange/grey HUcast and since I couldn't use any techniques, my favourite photon blast was the twins (Mylla & Youlla) they cast Shifta and Deband on you.
I started playing PSU only recently on the XBOX360. (lvl 25 now).

I only have one question, WHY can I not be orange/grey? :(

DC, day 1 NA release.
I remember I had just got my first teaching job out of college, and I was fiending for 4 hours every night while I had to teach. Then I'd come home and play for hours into the daylight hours with college buds. Sadly I think they all play wowcraft now but whatever, old memories die hard.

I bought my GC just for pso, but when I went online, 3 different offline characters I had (around lvl 90-100 each) were each corrupted. When the last one bit the dust, I just retired from the game until psu rolled around. Now I'm done with that too and just waiting until the next big thing rolls around (hopefully the old republic). We'll see how that goes, I got high hopes for that game ;)

Oh my days. Reading through all the previous posts... memories!

I had PSO v.1 on the DC about a month after it's release (all my friends on Chu Chu Rocket had disappeared onto that game, I HAD to go too! xD). Haha, I was...11 at the time I think. One memory that sticks out above all others... I played a HUnewearl and managed to pick up some Daggers... the purple ones (they were called Seize Blades and had something like 5% Machine! I was like, WOAH!). For some reason I dropped them to let some guy look at them, then he denied all knowledge of ever picking them up or knowing what the hell they were. He then decided it was a good idea to run around the corner and equip them, thinking I wouldn't know! I stood outside the Vol Opt teleporter and literally cried at him until he gave them back. He did, and I was so happy ^^

That and me running Dark Falz on Very Hard by myself offline for weeks on end because I was convinced he would drop me a Spread Needle. (Hey, it sounded logical...the hardest boss in the game, drops the best stuff, right? ;>_>) I then went online and traded a God / Power-- (Yes, the crappest of all God Powers...2 minus's!) for one and was running around the house cheering and waving my arms in the air. Ah....a hunter with a Spread Needle... xD

Aw, talking about all this makes me sad. I wanna go back 9 years, or at least find a game that fills me with as much happiness and fond memories as PSO did on the DC :<

I been around since DC v1 and been playing it ever since. Even BB for a short while. I got the game the second week it came out in NA. Didn't get online til like a month later if I remember right. I think I was still in elementary school then, so it was hard for me to play games alot, specially online. Man I miss those times. Didn't have to worry about bills or any of this crap I have to deal with now o.x Good times. I think, Hell I know I'm going to play this series til it completely dies out. 9 years and still counting. ;]

I got PSOv1 for my 20th birthday in 2001, but didn't really get into playing online with it until the next month.

Me (MetalGriever, my first v1 character) a few days after dinging level 100. My memory card would puke and die a couple days after that pic was taken.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v693/epyonic/mightymecha_4.jpg

I even imported PSOv2 like a lot of people after it came out.

I even imported PSOGC and had one of those hybrid keyboard controllers because I couldn't stand the soft keyboard and it was several months before the Datel one came out.

Seconds before ZEOTA (me) and Zuo (a friend of mine at the time) dinging 200 off Olga Flow in PSOGC about a week before TTF came out in the latter part of 2003.

Yeah I'm one of the few remaining original Dreamcast PSO players that still play PSU..or post here for that matter. Those days were very rough but there were a lot of good memories too. I played every version of PSO..I just didn't experience Episode 4. I used to put in my partner card that I'm a DC PSO vet, but I find that info to be quite well useless. Lots of people in PSU never heard of PSO, and many never played it.

I bought the game I think 1 month after it released, I still remember the first day I played which was, lol Feb 14 2001. My first friend I made was named Surami. Later I had a circle of friends called Andrea, K-Nurtz, and Swidog. We stuck together for about 5 months and we all got lvl100 together. June that year I couldn't play online til PSOCG came out.

Episode II will always been my favorite set of missions. It was like a FO's heaven. And fighting Gal Gryffon and Olga Flow is very epic. I remember people didn't know that whoever turns to flowen will absorb the damage Olga sustains unless it's a red weapon and I think the element that he is weak to at the time. *cant' remember that part well*

As you can see from my sig, I still have my PSOGC character atleast, who's old as hell. haha. I don't have a dreamcast anymore, but I still have my PSO ver1 disc.

I started playing PSO the first month it was released for the DC. I used to sit up all night playing with my work friends (I worked second shift at the time.) When we all stopped that, I moved to GC PSO 1&2. Never played BB. Got PSU about two weeks after it was released, and I had to get PSP the day it came out.

I'm on my fifth version of my Jadenlore character (1 was DC, 2 was GC which I lost to a corrupted memory card, 3 I still have on GC, 4 in PSU, 5 in PSP), and my third Wired Ryonai character (all but DC-he was originally a FOmar, but is now a newman.)

I am 26 and I have played PS since the early 1990's, but didn't get to PSO until the Xbox and xbox live. I loved every minute of it, though I wasnt very good! I have been playing PSU since launch and I will be with the PS series forever! I really wish they would come out with a regular PS title on DSi, something like the old PS games! that would be awesome though I am looking forward to PS:0!

I've owned/played all versions DC/GC/XBox, including Episode III. The Xbox version sucked toward the end, though. Everything was hacked. But anyway, I was typically FOnewm. =D

Ah the days of Pso, i still remember them well, I do wish psu would just add all the levels and monsters even as VR or like the rare missions try to represent, I started Pso on the cube, with a bunch my friends, eventually we got online, then tried the hand at Blue burst, then eventually PSU came along, after all the offical Pso servers were discontinued...and we all jumped onboard

Started out on Dreamcast on day 1. A few weeks end, met the Dreamstation.cc guild. Been with em ever since in multiple games including all the Phantasy Stars, some Ragnarok Online, Priston Tale, XBL, etc. Dreamstation ftw. ;)

I played Dreamcast PSO but did not start off right when it came out. I was no fan of the Phantasy Star games so I was not very interested. A friend of mine got it though and I saw PSO was awesome so I bought it the same day. Played it on the Dreamcast, Gamecube and the XBOX. Never got Blue Burst though as I never played games on the computer. Originally had PSU on the PS2 but I did not like the game much. After the expansion came out I gave it another chance on the 360 and got hooked on it and play it pretty often.

I actually originally bought it for the GC for its 4 player offline, i only had melee and some bond games for my 4 player action, after that it just became well known and i got many others addicted to it

started on dc ver1 in early 2000. pso was so amazing at first but was ruined by assholes/cheaters/bugs/etc for every version up until psobb (jp ver in particular). i played a ton of ver 1, 2 and gc but it wasnt until psobb that i really got into it hardcore. i remember it took me 160 mill lillies to find my psycho wand (400 hours across 6 months). those were the days.

I started on GC, then migrated to PSOBB when the beta went live and played there for a long time until PSU was released. Recently I started playing again on the official JP server.
