Form your own nation and make daily decisions to impact the political stature of your peoples.
Totally remembered this while contemplating other grand uses of time from my schooling days, such as Progress Quest.
Not so action packed as a lot of other online stuffs but could still be interesting to some for a time.
http://www.nationstates.net

Also a little group for us to check up on each other if there's interest.

Sounds interesting. Might try it out, once I get the time (somwhere this evening).

I always wanted to make my own, absolutist/corporate state.

I wonder If you can chhose/make your flags. Always wanted to do that too.

CrimsomWolf

Actually, got to "Settings" (or wherever you adjust settings)

One of the boxes at the top is about setting frequency of issues, though two per day is the fastest I've seen.

I wish there was a way to speed up government development besides deciding on one issue a day.

Yeah I kinda forgot about that part, for some reason I remember them starting you off on three or so when you first form your nation, which is weird because it obviously doesn't now.

They'll stack up though so you don't have to necessarily return every day to hit them up and instead check it out every so many days.

I really could've sworn though that it started you off with about 3 and then you got 1-2 per day.

Ah, there we go, thanks Crimson. Really has been forever.

The Issue

The latest "Harry Potter" book to hit schools across Barbronia has stirred up the greatest controversy yet.
The Debate

1. "I quite enjoyed the book, until I got to the part where Harry summons evil demons to do his bidding," says religious leader Faith Winters. "Now that's just wrong. We need to restore some sense to this debate, by which I mean we should remove this book from the shelves, salt it thoroughly, and burn it."

2. Teachers union President Johann McAlpin says, "Come on, the book is fantasy! And it's a damn good read. I'd like the government to issue a statement of support for our teachers and librarians, so kids can enjoy good books without interference from religious wackos, like Christians."

As much as I hate harry potter, I freaking love this site.

CrimsomWolf
Apr 17, 2009, 03:46 PM
Haha. As much as I dislike religious wackos, I would consider outlawing it.

I got one with minorities in soap operas:

Sanguilian's TV soaps--famous around the region--have come under fire for their lack of ethnic diversity.
The Debate

1. "Every night my family and I sit down to watch 'The Brash and the Backstabbing'," says Jazz Hanover. "But where are the Lilliputians like myself? Where are the Bigtopians? The Marche Noirians? People from those cultures can be just as brash and backstabbing, but we never see them on the screen. The government must act to remove this silent apartheid from our TV screens."

2. "Those Lilliputians don't know how good they have it," says Violet Johnson, spokesperson for the Tasmanians Against Ethnic Stereotyping. "Tasmanians are on television all the time, but always in crude, stereotypical roles. The answer is not to enforce ethnic quotas, but to award government prizes for the positive portrayal of minorities. That'll work better, and be cheaper, too."

3. "The government should do what now?" says TV studio executive Akira Wong. "You've got to be kidding. We make soaps here, not documentaries. I should be able to put whichever characters I want into my shows. Quotas! Government prizes! God save me! Hasn't the government got anything better to do? Why don't they just back off and let society work out these things on its own?"

Actually, in the WA, some people will team up and flood into an enemies region, and attempt to kick out or nullify those peoples power in the WA. You should read the faqs for the game, it's actually pretty interesting.

uh, yeaaaaah...

Just checked it out, and found a nation (Commonwealth of Crimsom, World 101, Arctic)

Seems to be more..."active" in terms of creating and managing your country. You aren't also separate in your own "magnificence bubble" as faq puts it, but you can trade, set alliances etc... they're also planning to introduce war, probably in summer.

You can also set up alliances between nations, which perhaps may be "inter-world" (i.e with countries from different worlds) but I'm not sure. Any and all FKL-ers are welcome to join there, if not actually move there.

HolioArtillery
Apr 20, 2009, 05:20 AM
if we decide to switch to NS2 we should probably all agree on a planet to play on, so our countries will be able to interact with one another

EDIT: I don't know what the deal is Crimsom, but I can't seem to find your nation on the World 101 list.

DOUBLE EDIT: Found you, sent you a telegram. I went ahead and just made my nation in World 101 as well.

I just joined NationStates2.
Check out my first issue:
"Smoking In Public: The Individual's Right Or Just Rude?"

Eerily topical, I think. And I'm sure I just torpedoed my "civil rights" rank by banning smoking. (Just like marijuana appears to be a "civil rights" issue in the first edition).

CrimsomWolf
Apr 20, 2009, 10:00 AM
Sometimes sacrifices need to be made... for good of nation, of course. If you have a very high "civil rights", then it might not affect it as bad...I think.

So far it's Holio, Myself and Astuarlen running the show as Supreme Leaders.

NationStates 2:
After several reports of pet Centaurs violently attacking, injuring, and even killing citizens, there has been growing pressure from public safety activists for the government to take action.
"These creatures are a danger to the public and must be destroyed!" says Freddy O'Bannon, representative of the Public Institution for Social Safety, Equality, and Direction. "I was attacked by one just on the way here and I nearly lost my life! They're a public menace. We must shoot and burn them!"I lol'd

(Or create nation there - it's possible to have more than one if they're on different worlds)

As at present I'm not certain if inter-world alliances work. (as last mod post on it, which was a year ago IMO, said that they had some issues with that).
