Ok, guys, I haven't been able to pay for PSU for a while (and I still can't), so... does anyone know if Sega deletes your characters after a specific period of time?

I've yet to hear one reliable claim of a character/account deleted/wiped due to inactivity.

They reserve the right to do so after 6 months of inactivity, or something like that. Whether or not they actually do so is another story.

I have had a friend of mine come back and all of the items not currently on his character be deleted, though. That sucked hard.

If they wipe your character, it's only because you created them just prior to a rollback - and even then, I'm not sure if it will totally delete the character or just revert them to starting stats.

I started the game when it launched, and I brought my friend Xarxsis and few friends from our FFXI linkshell with me. They all quit within the first month and haven't resubbed. I can still access their rooms, which are now filled completely with Vanda Porn and Toilets. So if Sega hasn't wiped out their accounts yet, I doubt they'd mess with anyone else's.

They only RESERVE THE RIGHT to delete your characters, but so far I don't think that game is popular enough to really force them to take action to free up the space. Might be a different story on the Japanese servers, but somehow I get the feeling that wouldn't apply to you anyhow.

You'll be fine, I have quit a few times for many months and nothing has happened to my characters.
As Sinue stated, they have the right, mostly if they have to clear space. But seriously xD
They should have PLEEENTY of space, most especially on PC/PS2 servers.
