View Full Version : Is the supplemental update coming to X360?

Yeah, im thinking about ditching my loved PS2 characters and joining 360 version. Ive downloaded the old PSU 360 demo off Xbox live (LOL Vanilla) and noticed the HUGE difference in gameplay (runs at full FPS no frameskip, full draw distance, effects are better visible) and actually am loving the plethora of players online. (Although, the PS2/PC population is FAR more mature and less annoying. I rarely get kicked from parties in PS2/PC no matter my level, but you're more likely to run into an asshole on 360.)

So, is the supplemental update coming to 360? Im sure it is, i just havent heard it from the staff yet. I know the 360 updates on the same schedule as the PS2/PC and US/EU 360 schedule.

BTW, are there any PS2/PC players that have switched to 360 that regret it?

Based on previous occasions, we should for the NA/EU version. Only problem, is that the Ps2 will be screwed. So to answer you, we should. It's not confirmed but it's looking like it should. =.=

Please don't judge the 360 community based on the demo... I totally agree it's fully of annoying kids wanting to chat and see pictures of naked ladies.

It's nothing like that in the actual game. Paying the sub clears out most of the kids and it's a pretty good community, the only downside is that it's so busy and can be hard to make friends in some of the busy lobbies.

Anyways, I play the 360 version, only just got back into it after over a year away. If you do decide to move over, add my tag: RaMarcus ;)

The answer is probably.

Oh, and if graphics is a concern, you should try the PC version. Depending on your specs, it can easily outperform the 360 version. If you're stuck on a laptop like me, however, 360 may be your best bet there.

somehow i dont see the pc outperforming the 360 version from all videos it lacks some of the alpha channels, then again it all depends if you have a badass videocard that can rendor everything smoothly.

Liek Meh?! lol

Yeah I play on the 360 side as well, and I agree with the guy who posted about the 360 community not being as bad as people make it out to be. It's really not that bad. It's just human nature to look for the bad before the good. >.>;

Anyways, If you have a good computer, the only difference that you will see is that it runs a little smoother, and that everything seems just slightly more polished. The 360 version could do it, SoJ decided to rush the 360 port, and then not fix some of the slowdown. >_>

Yeah ive been on PS2/PC for a while, so the jump from PS2-360 surprised me WAY more than it should. It literately runs on almost full PC specs, with a few minor downgrades. (only downgrade being the resolution, but if PSU has a second resolution option then i dont see anything the PC renders better.) My PC is on 3GB Ram with a Nividia 8600 card, so it runs PSU pretty much perfectly on max specs. It was amazing to actually be able to see the full draw distance on my TV.

The voice chat actually makes PSU a far better game. Even though i dont have a mic, its fun to actually talk while playing. And even more of a PSU360 Plus, i can play my own music while grinding. Believe it or not, music makes a HUUUGEEE difference while playing mmorpgs. PSO did a good job, but PSU completely failed on it. Luckly i have the PSO soundtrack on my 360 and a plethora of other music on my PC its connected to, so my ears should never get bored while playing. It makes it alot more fun.

IMO, 360 PSU should get everything the PC (WINDOWS) version is getting. If the 360 version doesnt get the supplement update it would really make no sense at all. (Hello harddrive, hello FAR superior graphical and processing horsepower, hello Voice Chat, hello Downloadable Content, hello 10x larger population.)

It also super surprised me that the first universe of the 360 demo population has like 5-6 stars and was maxed out. I could understand of course if this lowers during subscription, but thats more players than the PS2 version has EVER had. Ive never seen so many players online before. 0.0

BTW, i have a question ive never seen answered before, does the 360 version of PSU share servers with the Japanese 360 servers? Seeing as everything 360 JP psu gets is basically everything we get...

NA/EU 360 Servers are the same as JP 360 servers. So if you go to the designated JP server (Uni 16) then you can find a lot of them there. It's actually kinda interesting to see. :3

Anyways, on 360 we get the same updates as JP 360 because they are the same server. ^^;

yes, JP players have their own universe: 16 Perseus, it fills at least 1* full during peak hour(time difference 12+- fm states), also JP players are seen on populated univ all the time. *BladeM6 just beat me to this -_-*

Also note the infamous robot slow down on 360 was finally fixed a while back with the major client update.

Just to clarify about the random booters, it really isn't the issue with 360 platform but the individuals and the community effort in dealing with them which is another whole new topic. As for the random disconnects, it rarely happens only when server is over populated like last week at the start of the event where I could count up to 27 full stars at peak moment, or maybe it could be due to your poor connection. If demo server works ok for you, then you're set.

well trust me PS2/PC has never ever had a "population overload" problem. Our servers just crash because they're bored. :/

GM Edward confirmed that we are getting the supplemental update. During the Guralian Cup (Taem: Gothic Six) Tournament Semi Final round I believe. He doesn't know exactly when but we are getting it. Also he was unsure about Guardians cash and kind of doubtful that we'll use it over here. How those guardians cash items/missions will be distributed was also unclear.

But we are getting it. Everyone should stop getting all worked up about it. Same thing happened with AoI. "Are we getting it? We're not gonna get it!" Chill out everyone. We got this.

lol... no no no no no, PC version can run circles around the 360, but it all depends on your specs. I personally wouldn't join the 360 side simply because of graphics ALONE. I also like taking Screenshots and Videos in wonderful quality.
And actually, we did have a couple universes full during the release of the game RemiusTA.
The population might be low, but you can still usually find parties and play with friends.
I mostly play the game for it's graphical interface and mechanics which, well, are just not up to par on PS2 or 360.
I can't bare to play with Slowdown. I started on PS2 and hated playing as a Force because of the slowdown... and I hear 360 has a good amount of slowdown with Masterforce tech spam, and there's not enough Masterforces allowed in a party spamming 41+ techs that could give me slowdown.
Besides, if you went PC, you wouldn't have to start all over ;)

my PC runs this game fine on 0 FPS and full specs. Im just bored of it. I dont really like playing this game on my PC, it doesn't really feel right. I usually much perfer playing on my PS2, but forces are about 90% more useless on PS2 becuase their own spells lag the fuck out of them, making their DPS very laughable, since you're now casting 1 foie every 4 seconds.

This reason alone, at 1280x720 resolution with absolutely no slowdown no matter WHAT is going on during gameplay... is why I wouldn't result to any other version of the game.

Not feeling "right" when playing it on PC, well, I suppose you're just not much of a PC gamer and prefer consoles, which is all a matter of preference, but that would mean settling for less performance.
If I could, I would have ALL games playable for PC. :/

Turn on the shadow for enemy too would be even more awesome.
Plus AA mode. (addition program)
JP voice (patch)
Music adjust ( patch)
Vent (voice chat)
Fraps (record the game in high quality, screen shot in png type)
Window mode, look at PSOW during playing. MSN at the same time etc.

Apr 25, 2009, 11:52 PM
How would you turn shadows for enemies as well? 0_o only letting me select one bullet.
Gib AA mode
I have JP patch
I don't care for Music Adjust :/
I use vent :)
And I also use windows mode for PSOW and what not.

Something like this (on the shadow select, if you choose "enemies, it will turn shadow on everything)

I wish PSU supported a good widescreen resolution. That's my only gripe, and that's why I use window mode.

Not pushing 360?... lol, Do you play Force at all or play with Forces?
Also, PSU's graphics are actually quite nice...
But no, this isn't Crisis <__<

When I go to change the options, that isn't one of them. And my monitor's native resolution is 1680x1050.
It... should be there <_>
Also, my native resolution is 1920x1050, and I can stretch the PSU screen quite far for my 1080p monitor. I think the resolution works just fine.

True, perhaps Crysis spoiled me. I'm not saying PSU looks bad, I like the graphics a lot.

assholes and treat people like garbage. I've met nicer people on RO.

To people that want to play on a TV but don't want to play on a PS2 but have a high end PC...

...You can always hook up your PC to your TV..

That's right, it's not new technology. You could actually do it with S-Video for years now when 800x600 became hot shit on basic CRT's.

I can play PSU with a controller and a keyboard on my lap staring at my TV in 720p on my comp when I play PSU and it works just fine...

Hell, since it's a 1080p TV native I can even window it so that it looks much better.

I'd suggest it, I use a DVI to HDMI adaptor and it looks quite nice..and most HDTV's have DVI hookups so you can connect it just like a monitor.

If you set controller to controller in the options menu on PC, then you don't have to press space first to type. Hopefully you actually have a controller though XD

I play PSU on my PC with a 360 controller, ironically. As Drex said you can also hook your PC up to a TV as well with S-Video.

I lost my cord when moving and I actually have a good TV worth doing it on now too...(darn)

All my in-game music is patched to those of my liking as well :o

Back to the topic on hand I know a few PS2 players that went to 360. I'm guessing it is worth it since they haven't come back. Note again it was PS2 users, not PC.

I wouldn't see why 360 wouldn't get supplemental update though. Pretty sure it will.

Wow! People still distrust the specific things that the GM's say despite how many times they turn out to be true? Wow!

It wasn't random. I specifically asked about the update. We had a ten minute conversation about it, the darkness event and level caps. This convo happened back in Jan/Feb. So far, it looks like what he's said is all coming to pass.

Keep in mind, this is a system update as well. We always get system updates. Also it has been said numerous times that in the end, we will have all the same content as the JP servers.

The same thing happened when Aoi came out and people were crying about the possibility of us not getting it. Everybody just needs to chill out. We will get all the content, it's just a matter of time.

Just play with FRIENDS and you wont get booted. You have to learn how to deal with assholes every where you go. Meet some new people, strike up a conversation. I havent been booted in almost a year and last time I did, I joined a person who was soloing and forgot to lock the party. I've never been scammed either; mainly because of the fear and all the horror stories, but it still happens to people. Heres my GT: Miami Fat Man.

Due to the fact the demo is full of kids looking for porn, It is alot worse.
The actaul game, however, has nothing of the sort for the 360.
Since i have never played the other versions, i cant say its better.but i enjoy it.

BTW, are there any PS2/PC players that have switched to 360 that regret it?

No. I don't regret it at all. I'm having a lot of fun actually.

To be fair, the booting and more occurance of "assholes" is simply because of the size, so there is more chance of running into these people. The 360 server though has a good bit of nice players.

I have switched to Xbox 360 from PS3 (PS2 disc played on PS3) - could not get on with the shabby graphics of the PS2 version and the 36o game looks superb.

Also nice to see some population as well! That is not to say there are no peeps on PS2.PC, just a lot less.

LG.

Like the PC, the 360 doesnt have those lame voices the PS2 version has.

Thats a game-breaker for me. Im definately switching when i get the chance lol

I was looking into the 360 version, so I also tried the demo. It seemed kind of blurry in comparison, but that might have been because it's the "vanilla" version. All in all though, I would have tried it with an actual subscription if the billing was different, and I didn't have so much ground to make up if I started from scratch again. Oh, and my Live connection is weird. >_>
