Slight problem with the character creation

Hello everyone, I'm new on here, but I already got quite a problem XD So I bought Phantasy Star Portable, started a new game, went on and tried to create a character, but I somehow can't change the eye and hair color, which is really annoying o.o I there some kind of special control you have to use to do it?

You have to use the analog stick to move the color slider around. That's what the little icon by the color slider means.

Uhm thanks,... but what/where is the analog stick? X__x I'm quite new to the PSP but mine only has that control cross button thingy, whatever you call it

That little nubby thing under the D-pad.
