Oh no, not shred the darkness! These are indeed dark times.
Sorry that you got the red ring, but if all you care about is STD, don't worry. At your level you should have/be able to afford anything you missed out on.

buy a new 360 and toss your old one with the shitty chipset.
if it's overheated once, it will only continue to do so in the future.

detach you hd, buy an arcade and reattach your hd. new cooling chipset, all your old game information. problem solved.

Call Xbox's support line and talk to a lady from somewhere in Asia, and get your very own Brazilian 360!

With all these problems that I keep hearing about 360's breaking down, I often wonder if I shoud even bother buying a 360 :(.

With all these problems that I keep hearing about 360's breaking down, I often wonder if I shoud even bother buying a 360 :(.Supposedly each new version has a lower risk of getting the RRoD. The system is covered for 3(?) years for RRoD and I think one other issue now, 1 year for anything else. The hard drives are removable, so you won't lose anything if you need to swap systems. I like mine, and have a rather large collection of games in a short amount of time (I think it now rivals my entire GC collection).

Still get a 360. My PS3 was a very expensive paperweight.

So was your... never mind, it's not important!

But yeah, don't let this scare you off. The 360 is still a good console.

another victim of rrod too? my box fell two days ago to E 74... well at least it broke BEFORE M$'s date for free E 74 repairs. and to think all of these problems could have been prevented had M$ decided to...
1. bigger airvents
2. place graphics chip AWAY from heat source
3. used decent sodering that doesnt melt after extended use

i had just sold my orachio for 20 mil... i was going to get a cheap guld and vijerina power...
hopefully ill get it back BEFORE the event ends... -.-

Sounds more like an intervention.

http://support.xbox.com, click Repair Console, and follow the steps to get a pre-paid shipping box sent to you. They'll fix it, and you'll be back in business soon enough.

That is, of course, assuming you bought your 360 within the past three years.
