Currently it is 100.

Can that change? Even after it releases in NA? like an expansion kinda like world of warcraft..

Good question. Knowing the style of PS game it probably isnt hard to reach 100. Though it really isnt the type of game id expect updates from. Unless they do something with DSi ware. Which then is region locked i believe

Sega leaving room for updates is pretty unlikely, especially for a DS game.

Not to mention, if they bumped up the cap, they'd have to add more content one way or another, which I don't even think the game has room for.

The tricky thing about this is how hard it'd be to implement a new version. Since the game's save is stuck with the game cartridge, they'd have to somehow extract it and be able to port it over to a new cartridge. I'm not too sure about the DSi update theory either. As awesome as that would be, you have to consider how they would keep it compatible with the previous version. They can only add and change so much before it becomes buggy. We have no idea how much leeway Sega put for the game processing things that aren't supposed to be there, which could really make it or break it. Does the game process that unrecognized weapon as a saber, or does it freak out and collapse?

Pretty much. Only way I see it done in any way is using DSi features but the game is just a standard DS game. MAYBE if they make a sequal and they use the SD card feature heavily but I highly doubt it. Even then...

They might have options for both DS/DSi owners. There are DS games that have "expansion packs" released as GBA carts. I doubt that this is what would happen if Sega did infact decide to continue PS0, what would be more likely is that they'd bundle some sort of device that saved character data from PS0 onto the GBA cart device and then you could transfer it over from PS0 version 2 from there. That leaves the potential for hacking to be very high. I doubt they care enough beyond "whoops, well I guess we tried, cant blame us" if hacking becomes a problem, which is already has. The other included option I suppose would be some sort of DSiWare program that did the same thing. This is all mere speculation, I'm just sayin, it's possible.

Problem with that is that it would screw DSi owners. Which wouldnt be logical since they want to promote reasons to get a DSi.

Hacking's already easy and plentiful from what I've heard. THe problem with the theory you stated is that the game, as far as we know, doesn't know how to save the data to the Gameboy Advance game. They probably weren't planning that far ahead. They might be able to do something like, make a DS download station where you could connect, and it would do it for you, but even that's iffy. How would they go about distributing it so everyone could get to it? There's the store thing, but they're not going to keep that forever. There's the Wii thing, but not everyone has a Wii. They could build in the transfer program into PS0 version 2, but not everyone has two DSes. We're probably not seeing a sequel on the DS, unfortunately, and if we are, can you really expect Sega to be generous enough to put in that much effort, and if they will for the JPN players, for the American/Eurpoean players?

Nope.
