Ok, so I figured maybe some of the SEGA ppl will read this and pass it on to higher-ups. This is a SERIOUS thread. Just write your "Dear SEGA" letter and hopefully someone like Edward will let the actual ST or SoA/SoJ ppl know about it.

I figured why not make a thread where ppl can complain without bashing each other. Don't worry about what other ppl post, just tell SEGA how you feel.

Why are our updates so few and far between? Why are we so far behind the Japanese servers? Why can't we have our updates properly installed in a timely manner? Please don't give any excuses, just tell us players why. Don't lie, don't pretend, just give us the facts. We want to know what's going on. If it's just technical issuses or something, tell us. We'd be able to understand and then wouldn't be so upset about it later. Just tell us the facts as to why the updates are late or split up. I think the entire player base would be happy just to know the facts about our PSU updates.

Thanks for making such a wonderful game. Its so addicting but its supported by practically an endless amount of things to accomplish. Even if your updates may seem far and inbetween at times, at least you made an online game so that we have friends to spend the time with and so many different things we can do while we wait. Thank you for the level up system, PAs, multiple character slots, and such a fantastic character creator so that we can all have unique characters.

Hey I really love your game. We all do. Its great! You know what we also love? Updates. Yeah, the things we pay you for. Also I heard about that new "ice" event the Japanese players are about to receive. That's AWESOME! Cant wait to get it....we are getting it, right? OH dont feel pressured or anything. We really dont mind paying the same amount as the japanese players did and getting only 40% of the content they did. We also dont mind being denied content for months with no explanation. We also REALLY don't mind being a year behind you in updates. Also, when we do events, we also dont mind you lying to us about when we get the awards. Dont sweat it, its all good, really. I love your Phantasy Star Universe game. It's a very unique mmo that I have enjoyed. I been Playing it since it came out and I really REALLY enjoyed it.... However I do grow tried of the screws and lack of updates. For someone who's been around as long as me... I know how all the BAD and some good things that when on though the course of this game unlike most new players that say that it isn't that bad. However this isn't a letter to tell you how bad you guys are. I'm just asking could you really put more effort into this game (Mainly EU/US)

I really like this game and would hate to see it die. The population is starting to get so low. (Ps2/PC side is kind of sad.... I know you see this) The older players are get bored and upset. And there's many people leaving to go to the JP side (Which been on my mind also... that or just quitting all together)

I don't know how we ended up so far behind JP.... and we rarely get an explanation for anything which I feel is wrong. You guys could at least give us an reason. And then when you guys give us promises you go and brake it. This has happen so many times that it's hard to take you guys seriously.

All I'm asking is please try a bit hard for your fans. I see my self a big fan of PSU but there only so much I can take. Thanks Sega

I remember reading EGM many moons ago (as a matter of fact, I found such magazine in my stacks and re-read the PSU section) and read at the wonders that was going to be PSU for years to come. Firstly, whatever happened to drivable vehicles and such that your article stated? Second, how come you guys don't like adding the big swords in and just add in weapons people generally hate or grow tired of? How about adding a Dragon Slayer or Last Survivor (no, DeRagan Slayer doesn't cut it) Flowen's was nice but how about more big swords. J-Sword or Zanba wouldn't hurt, would it?. Third, for the love of every living entity of this universe, stop making whole Episodes online only. I'd like to play PSU Ep3 as well but not pay for it every dang month. Also, the whole "connection required to play offline" is the biggest load of putrid pile of the most vile excrement I have ever seen. I hope the next Phantasy Star does not shaft people this way, that is, if you even care about that or any of your Western/Union fanbase.

Ok then... seeing the lack of serious responses in this serious thread made out of serious win and boredom, I'll join in the serious seriously duty of being in a serious thread and post my sincerely serious opinion, sincerely:

I never was the kind of QQing player, but that might be due to the fact i jump from MMORPG to MMORPG, and never allowed the game to bore me to the limits of near-insanity.

I know the "I'll-quit-PSU-cause-lack-of-updates" threat doesn't work anymore, as clearly shown by the server population decline over the months. You made your point, and I already understood that ranting over this will only bring me... well, i cant think in anything better than "nothing".

Sometimes when I'm playing, I get the feeling im playing in some "fan-managed" PSU server: lack of quality, updates take -literaly- years to come by, GMs are rarely present cause they have extremely important duties aside from their GMing works (most of GMs in fan-based servers atend to school and university, so yeah), etc etc... I could accept this, if i didnt had the small detail of paying 10€ a month. Resuming, even paying this, I feel I'm getting the kind of treatment I would get by not paying.

I like this game. I care. But i don't understand why it has to be like this. I could go on and say the benefits of updating more fluently, but i would just be repeating, say... an hundred of ppl? Well, I bet an hundred of ppl already posted something like this, and I'm doing it again... why? Cause from some point onwards, ppl just get tired of it. (I'm kinda sad at me for letting myself go down the lvl of trying to tell you what's best like I'm the Boss. Don't be mad at me :>)

I know I could seek another good MMORPG like I stated before somewhere. But I'm taking a break from my old MMORPG, and from my point of view, no other MMORPGs are worth my atention for now. I have been playing since march 2007 and have enjoyed every minute of play i have spent on your game.
I have even taken to Sitting on the 4th floor of the guardians colony on universe 1 and watching the "community interaction" while i fall asleep. It's kind of like an interactive reality TV show.
I am a very forgiving and tolerant person by nature, and i find it hard to hold a grudge against anyone for the most part.
However i find myself asking the same question more and more often of late;
"What is the problem here?"
I have come to the conclusion that there must be something seriously lacking in the team responsible for the US/EU servers, and their maintenance and update schedule.
i honestly see no acceptable reason for the delays and mistakes that have occurred in the last near-three years.
The team running the Japanese servers seem to be quite prompt and efficient, begging the question
"why the delay?"
I have heard many theories, the most common of which is that translating the names and descriptions of new missions and items, or the dialog of a new story mission takes some time, or (this is an xbox specific one) that the new content has to be approved by microsoft before it can be implimented.
The idea that translation delays could cause such a setback is proposterous, and all the content that does not require an actual downloaded update is already on the game disc, or contained in the AOTI download. Meaning it has already been approved by microsoft for distribution and use on the xbox 360.
Both of these and all other theories i have heard are merely excuses, not reasons.
Reasons explain why and how, and state facts that answer the questions asked.

Excuses are made when no reasonable explanation can be put forward.

For example;
The servers shut down unexpectedly- it is found that the air conditioning units in the server room have broken and so the failsafe shut off power to the servers to prevent permanent damage.

This is a reasonable explaination as to why the problem occurred and we the players can accept that without serious complaint.

However, i am unable to find any similarly acceptable explaination for the near discriminatory difference in service, regularity and reliability of maintenance and updates between the US/EU servers and those in Japan.

So i ask you sega, what IS going on here?
What is the REASON for this gargantuan display of procrastination?

We, as paying customers, have every right to know what our subscription fees are paying for when we are clearly not recieving the services promised.

Consideration that total population combine from 3 server isn't even as large as the previous year in JP server now, I strongly suggest that it is easier to manage just one whole server..

Now I'd like to see them more detailed, in my monitor's native resolution. Please add resolutions such as 1920*1200 or 1920*1080 to the options of the game.
I also would love to play the game in stereoscopic 3D with anaglyph or other glasses, so it wouldbe nice of you to ask Gameguard to whitelist the drivers available there: http://www.iz3d.com/t-dcdriver.aspx
(They sell polarized monitors+glasses, but the drivers support a great variety of other 3D glasses/solutions too)

It was kind of nice getting PSU back like three years ago when you guys actually gave a damn.

There was updates like there was no tomorrow. I don't know what happened, did you decide to get lazy and stop giving us content? or were you promised a greater deal on the other side of the world and decided to jump ship?

I, still play regretablly, on a game that you don't really give two shits about excuse the language but some things must be said.

That in mind the people I play with are the ones who keep me playing even after recruting a few of my friends in real life, this still isn't enough to play on a daily basis.

It's not that I don't like playing PSU but bare with me when I say this it's not PSO like it was on the dreamcast or gamecube were you may have had a lot of interest but never really bothered in updating.

The whole phantasy star franchize I really like playing, you guys had so much potential in making a successful franchize but you never bothered updating or marketing. I know it's a flaw in the company but I'm not here to bash. I'm here to find a resolution to your problem or at least a suggestion

If you want your audience back for the love of God UPDATE. Updates may or may not be manitory but that what keeps your audience.

Instead of giving us fake promises actually do something for once. Every time I ask someone when were going to get a "real update" like the japan servers, people respond that they don't know, or it will never happen.

Basically I just want to have both the servers on the same level of things but it will never happen in a million years.

It's an equation that just doesn't add up it's like you want to help, but you rather watch people suffer.

Yes I know you can be draining my money but as it is I don't know if I'm getting charged for psu anymore. I checked my statements but there is no trace of it ever being recorded. I don't want you guys to pull the whole your not paying us were going to give it to you in one fee.

I have come to say that yes I have used the ticketing system on the offical website. You guys were quick and responsive I will give you that.

Or maybe it's just I'm one of the remaining hardcore fanatics of phantasy star franchize that would really like to see you guys succeed, but like I said before you guys have an area of improvement to work on and unless you do something to fix this you will never get an audience like you had at launch.

I also respect everyone who makes a contribution to making this game great but there is times were it feels like it's lacking, but I will accept that factor even though there are some people on here that would disagree. I will still play your game.

Except that in the last 6 months the delay compared to the JP version increased from 8/9 months to 10+ months. :wacko:
It's still alot better than what happened on the 2nd half of last year. ^^;

What I'm pointing out is that even though things are better this year compared to last year, we're still getting things slower than the Japanese version got.
But not delaying the anniversary event because of the delayed rewards is a step in the right direction. ^^

Some complain about anything (there are some that are even complaining about getting the STD rewards and the event at the same time >.>), but some do have good reasons to complain.

Also, in a previous post, I was only pointing out that we won't catch up with the JP version anytime soon (if we'll ever catch up). For that to happen the delay between our version and the JP one would have to be decreased, not increased like the past few months.
Things did got better, but not enough to allow us to get closer to JP. With all the extensions this year, Parum GBR extended, Carnival extended, STD extended, we only got further away from the JP version in terms of content updates.
(btw, not complaining, just stating what has been happening)

Also, I really hope they don't start doing things like in June...STD main rewards delayed for 3 weeks, Sonic's Bday lobby delayed for 2 weeks.
I do hope they start doing things like what they're doing in the next update. Not delaying new content because of content that was delayed previously. Not delaying the event we're getting next friday because of the delayed rewards.

If I have 3* luck and I am running the event mission hoping to find something good (this is late at night because I work during the day) and then midway through the mission I get a disconnect and get kicked off, I think that I should get another day of 3* luck. At least you're slightly better than SNK when it comes to alienating long-time fans while releasing buggy, incomplete games that will fail to draw in new players because other games have already accomplished what you failed to do *coughKOFXIIcough*. Thank you for the first year of Phantasy Star Universe. It was the highlight of my day, everyday. The friends I have made and the memories we have all created with one another will forever be with me. But I must ask you Sega/Sonic team, why do you ignore us? Are we not just as loyal a fan base as your home fan base. As someone who has played this game since the day it was released I have noticed that we just dont seem as important anymore. I have tried FFXI and while it is a great mmo (for what its worth) I think that you had the chance to be infinitely better. Your character customization far surpasses FFXI, The Lush colors and environments are more appealing, you have wonderful music as well. But the things you fail to do, these are glaring issues and they must be addressed quickly. Now unlike most others, I am never expecting us to catch up to the Jp side unless you withhold their updates, And I would never expect you to do that. So I propose this, Lets try baby steps. A little update on a consistent basis, whether it be once every two weeks or once a month, Just so long as they stay consistent then i am a happy fan. And after we fix those then we'll work on all the other problems we face.

At least a few of those awesome Dreamcast games actually made it onto another system. So while they might have missed a lot, they didn't miss everything. At least Gamecube owners got a taste of the awesome Skies of Arcadia, even if they had to wait that much longer.

However, I still have my Dreamcast for several exclusives. One of the lesser appreciated ones being Sword of the Berserk. Not only was it a great game, with some definite challenging parts. It was also the *only* cinematic Berserk experience that took place during the Manga. The anime never covered that, just the prequel. And yet, it still had some great dramatic parts to it. A definite *can't miss* for a Berserk fan.

Oh man sword of the berserk was so hot. Hella hard too. Good times that was. But yeah, the dreamcast was so damn hot, especially for us that had crappy ass dial-up and 4 controllers back then.

I remember playing unreal tournament and quake 3 arena online on DC, man I thought that was the best thing in the world, playing other humans across the world instead of playing my brother and nephews all day in all the multiplayer n64 games I owned.

Don't even get me started on phantasy star online. I was there on day 1 of the u.s. release, before people even thought of using gameshark to do stupid crap online. The most amazing online gaming experience I ever had in my life, game was so addicting before people started cheating, it became my favorite game of all time.

All the legendary arguments I had with my mom over the phone line, because she complained her friends couldn't get through from me always being on PSO 24/7, it was like gaming crack. Then when my grades dropped in school, taking the PSO disk away from me hurt way more than taking all my systems from me. Crazy times those where.

The dreamcast was definitely sega's best system. Sucks I have yet to play another online rpg that grabbed me as bad as when PSO ver 1 on dreamcast first released though.
