I never really got into sports games, even the well shaded, curved models of the DOA girls would'nt have me buying that game. Not for the fact that I would'nt want to try it out just to see what it was like, but for the fact that everyone who walked by and saw me playing it would have the thought of "...what a pathetic little man." running through their head. >=x

I'd get it if the rest of the cast from the game were in it. I haven't gotten out to rent it so I don't know how shallow the game-play is. It's volleyball, so of course it isn't going to get deep by any means, but some games are just shockingly addictive.

Not to mention the fact that DOAX doesn't seem too appealing to me once you get past the characters, which don't mean much to me.

I would'nt say most gamers are self conscious of what they buy, but some think there are expectations of what they should buy. It doesn't make any sense when you get down to it, gaming is gaming, everyone enjoys something different.

DOAX is a great example. Some people will like it because it's a volleyball game with characters they like, others will use it for the proverbial "fap" factor, and some will get it just because it's a DOA game. Many different reasons, none of which have to be proven to anyone.

I'll give an example.

A few years ago, I went over this person I had met at school's house. I noticed he had an N64, which was the "bomb-diggity", so to speak. I noticed him stuffing something under his bed, when I came into his room. (No, it wasn't a dead body.)

When I took a look at his games, I was pleasantly surprised. All of the biggest hits. TLoZ:OoT, SM64, GE:007, etc.

When he went to the bathroom some time later during GE:007, and I went to look what he was hiding. Curiosity kills the kitty, but what do I know? I found Pok?n Stadium hidden. XD I mean, it's sad that he was so ashamed of having a game (which I found to be just as "bomb-diggity"), that he would go as far as hiding it.

Eum I think what you say is somewhat valid, but I wouldnt consider it a war cry for gamers. If you play games and people you know watch you, they link you to the games you play. I can strongly admit that I dont play animal crossing when my friends are over, but I dont hide it under my bed.

Im gonna side with ABDUR on this one, because games are extremly interactive, and the types of games you play say what kind of person you are...

So you're saying if I played that Japanese arcade game (You put your finger in a toy ass) because I thought it was very innovative and new, you wouldnt think of me differently?

They don't so much judge, it's more a matter of self appearence. To have all of the kickass games that have been released, and then to pull out Pokemon Stadium(which was popular, and I've played it when my nephews had renting runs and stayed weekends so it does have a bit of fun into it), it sort of ruins your own self image. But the funny thing is that your self image isn't in jeopardy to anyone except yourself.

When I was way younger, I used to think anyone who did'nt play certain games were lame, but that was a child's view. People just have to open up and realise that everyone likes different things and that thats ok.

DOAXVB is annoying, not paricularly the game itself, but the people who review it. Hardly any site I go to reviews it's gameply, just it's "graphics". That really gets me upset. Yeah, it's a Mature game with girls that are showing off the majority of their epidermis (big words conquer all). So what? It's also a volleyball game, casino, etc. Giving one side of the story in a review is crap. Your acquantince, like over half of the American population, is judging this book by it's cover. Remind him, it's a SPORTS GAME. If you wanted to look at girls, wait until that Playboy game comes out.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make was not just the people who review it and spend long nights constantly oogling the game, it's just the people who don't know what games are about. The commercial said it all. The guys that sit and watch the game and pull pillows over their pants really makes people who don't video game say, "Hey! Lets rent that game and look like a bunch of guys watching cheap porn!"

And most, just seeing that one game makes the small cogs in their brains spin and spell "Uhhhh...uhhh...ha ha! You watch cheap video game porn!"

What was the topic again, I mean, we got so far off track there.... Oh yeah, Volly Ball, DOA style. Yeah, people miss the highlights of the game. The casino, and the decent volly ball. And the interaction with the girls. It's not all about the graphics, and the bouncy, erm'... Yeah, those. But, all in all, it's a pretty fun game, with grea graphics, and decent game play. I wouldn't be embarassed about owning it. Of course, i'm not embarassed that I own a box of porn either. O_O So, what's worse? Actually owning porn, or playing a volly ball game, with girls that have the jigglyness? That's a question, you'll all have to answer for yourselves.
