Poll time, fuckos!

You are the leader of a party in an RPG adventure. The actual context matters little. Sci-fi? Fantasy? Modern? No bloody clue. The only thing you know is that equipment and mounts will be supplied on-site as appropriate, you will be up against a formidable force, you'll fight in all sorts of possible manner, and your chances of survival are slim.

But, you can up your chances of survival, by putting together a party of heroes. And those heroes must be AWESOME. By their sheer awesomeness, will your survival rate increase.

You will need the following:

A FIGHTER, who excels in melee combat.
A MAGE, who possesses supernatural or superhuman qualities that allow him or her to perform feats that defy the laws of physics. Alchemists qualify for the spot too. Mages don't necessarily need to be wizards - any magical or superhuman being will do the trick.
A RANGER, who excels in ranged combat.
A DRUID, who possesses a good deal of knowledge on nature, food, flaura and fauna. The person doesn't need to be a druid per se; any person who's well-versed on the wilderness can wear the druid hat.
A ROGUE, who will perform reconaissance, observation, and assist in combat by flanking or surgical strikes; therefore, your rogue must have an average fighting ability, but it doesn't need to be his forte.

And now for the golden rule: all the party members must be fictional characters derived from cartoons/Anime and/or video games. This means that celebrities previously featured in video games can be used - you could recruit Saquille O'Neal and his shaq-fu as your melee fighter if you wanted to. Be creative!

Remember... only the awesome will survive.

Sarcastic first reply:
Fighter
Black Mage
Ranger
Red Mage
Thief.

Yes, I know its stupid. Actual reply after I think a little.

The real team:
Fighter:Cress Albane (Tales of Phantasia) He's awesome, he kicks ass, and oh yeah, he wields the Eternal Sword, and as such can kill stuff by warping space-time. (Including teleporting behind an enemy, wailing on them, and warping out. Appropriately, it's called "Lunge"). While this could push him into Mage, he is a melee specialist, aside form a few ranged attacks... like Demon Fang. Oh, and he has an entire school of swordsmanship named after him in the future.
Mage:
Ranger:
Druid: Medic, Etrian Odyssey flavor. Either game, the Yggdrasil labyrinth includes all manner of exotic flora , fauna , and hazards. Any veteran is overqualified for this role. Medics are mostly support (Barring the surprisingly strong attack Caduceus) with plenty of healing skills. Also a couple of buffs... such as unconditional -30% damage to party. (Removed for good reason in EO2)
Rogue:Samus Aran. Specializing in recon-missions-gone-wrong. Also known for destroying planets on occasion.

Working on the ranger slot. By "as appropriate", you mean whatever the character would normally be loaded out with?

Fighter: Charles Barkley. With his awesome B Ball Skills and Verbotern Jams

Mage: Bill Nye the science Guy: Uses The laws of sicence to do cool Science attacks

Ranger: Duke Nukem: The man with balls of Steel. Need I say more

Druid: The Bush Tucker Man: No man knows the Australian Outback than The buch Tucker man. he can find anything usefull out there.

Rouge: Joanna Dark: She's good at seaking around Datadyne Facilaties and can shoot the shit out of stuff if need be.

Alright, I've finally settled on a list.

Fighter:Cress Albane. Time-traveler. Eternal Sword. Tales game. And kicks ass.
Mage:Relm (FFVI). Because, frankly, killing an enemy by painting their picture is both hilarious and awesome.
Ranger:Samus Aran. You can't beat this firepower.
Druid:Hexer, Etrian Odyssey. As said, the Labyrinth has all kinds of exotic plants and animals. All want to eat you. And frankly, a skill that simultaneously inflicts every status ailment in the game is the definition of awesome. (For the record, it starts with instant death, and works its way down to... poison, I think. Poison is very good in EO.) Oh, and the entire Evil Eye skillset.
Rogue:Major Kusanagi (GitS). Fits the role perfectly. Also, the whole hacking-into-minds bit can't be anything but awesome. (Except perhaps scary)

Fighter: Haruhara Haruko (Fooly Cooly) Nuff said.
Mage: Nina (Breath of Fire 1) Healing is a must. Stat boosters are a bonus.
Ranger: Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell) Girl has guns hiding in various random places in her home, let alone her person.
Druid: Treebeard (Lord of the Rings Two Towers/Return of the King) Never a good idea to piss off a tree.
Rogue: Any RPG character, considering you can snatch items from people's homes and they either don't care or don't know.

FIGHTER: Bruce Lee (Himself) Total badass.
MAGE: Dr. Jean Carlo Montague (PSO) He may not "have the knack," but he could make a Booma's Claw for Bruce to use on the journey. Although.. Those shoes may be a little hard to maneuver around in.
RANGER: Legolas (The Lord of the Rings) 24, 25, 26... *Orcs fall over*
DRUID: Bear Grylls (Man vs. Wild) he might as well be made of wood in the first place.
ROGUE: Boba Fett (Star Wars) He has a fucking jet pack!

Oh, and the Firefox spell check doesn't know what a "Mage" is.

Does that make TESIV:Oblivion the exception that puts the QED in this rule? Those eerily omniscient (okay, admittedly, is there really any other kind of omniscience?) guards are a beast.

I recall a few exceptions in KotoR too. Mostly when the person wasn't a random civilian, but...

You know, I'd like to have Sean Connery as a fighter, but I'm too newly woken up to think of anyone else right now.

Fighter: Dog - A towering, mechanized guard built for the sake of PAIN.
Mage: Ang - The last airbender.
Ranger: Serious Sam - Are you serious?
Druid: Ash Ketchum - The very best.
Rogue: Batman - He's not wearing hockey pads.

You don't know how strongly tempted I was to call Pokemon on Druid. The problem is that its a cop out. (Albeit a very role-appropriate one)

Graphic novels and movies aren't in the categories you gave. Please at least add graphic novels/manga... (I mean, you already listed anime). Then I can use Dresden for mage.
