I am about to purchase a DSi for the sole purpose of phantasy star zero in november, but I have noticed a lot of router problems people have had. What is the best router for DSi online play?

Any router with no password protection on them I say. :P

(Based on my personal experience connecting on networks outside my house.)

Of course you could always get a wi-fi USB connector thingy, that's pretty easy to set-up.

Any wireless router will do, you can find default passwords online for ANY model of wireless router, change the password set a wep key (dsi supports a higher hex on wep than the lite/phat for more security) Buffalo products will be the easiest because it is the technology nintendo bases their stuff on and supports AOSS which is really so stupidly easy it might be worth paying the extra bucks if your really worried about compatibility. the DS has a function called AOSS which basically you buy a wireless router plug it in and press the AOSS button when you want it wireless and your a-go. However anyone in your vicinity could also use this same function. Personally I recommend you buy the cheapest wireless router you can get (i got a 19.99 airlink 101 super g after returning my nintendo DONGLE) spend 5 minutes on google finding the default password, set some passwords for the router and for your DSI and learn how to turn on and off the wireless mode if its only going to be used in short bursts. It's a little intimidating when your starting out but it is really much simplier than grasping the jargon of phantasy star, so i have confidence it will be a smooth transition.

Make sure the router you're buying doesn't use WPA encryption.

My router does not use WPA encryption but my DS will not connect... I think it is a lottery trying to connect a DS to a router, I'm glad PSP2 will have online play because my PSP does like my router, not like my NDS...

You can try playing next to your wifi router.

You usually have to enter some extra info, like your IP adress, ect.

THsi can be done by going to the command prompt, and typing in ipconfig, or something...

Oh! XD Sorry...I forgot you didn't have a computer. Are you waiting for the DSi release of PhantasyStar? I may end up buying it again just for the DSi's Down loadable content feature!

I also sent you a friend request, but I did not get yours... =(

Did you get my reply?

They will be releasing new stages exclusively for DSi users. Maybe the PSO forest stage, as everyone suspects.

Also, maybe some more nintendo inspired weapons, or new mags.

Just yesterday, I was playing with someone who designed his character to look like BumbleBee from the Transformer's movie, and he had Samus' arm canon, from metriod.

But, you can always import the JPN PS0. Unless it has region lock on it.

(I don't remember how to check friend requests either... xD I'll find out.)

Really? where did you get that information from? the DSi is only having a demo of the game, a demo you have to pay, not downloadable content for the game. The rumours section is the other way.

I read that the DSi Version would be smaller, support the same features as the DS version, and it will have downloadable content, such as an exclusive stage.

I said MAYBE it will have new weapons or mags. That's what I'm hoping for.

Where? there's no such "DSi version", so you are mistaken. PSŲ will be the same in every DS console model.

Good for you... =D
Try not speaking like a computer for once. Lighten up. I may have gotten my facts wrong, but I'm certain I didn't.
If I'm wrong, let me be wrong. Don't try to be a smart ass about everything, it gets you nothing on the internet.

It starts with someone being wrong, and spreads ending with a lot of misunderstanding in the forums, next step would be someone asking for the DLC of Ragol stages for the DSi...

Sorry if I was rude, I think it is just fair to ask for a link regarding information, and if a link is provided I will judge said information properly (depending of the link), and sorry for my English too, it's neither my second nor my third language, I'm trying my best.

Look, no I'm sorry. I'm used to people kind of being really petty on forums (not to say you were). What I said was sort of uncalled for. I apologize as well. =) I can just be a bit snappy.

I hope you accept my apology.

But, you can find the info on it on Wikipedia, and then by going to the DSi PS0 page.

I know Wikipedia isn't the most reliable, but I read from a blog that these features are real.

The blog described it as a "smaller version that works with DSiWare, and allows DSi players to unlock exclusive stages."

By smaller version, I assume they mean >like< a demo, but not quite a demo. Maybe not a full game, but a game you can update.

If y sources are wrong, then we will see. Could be wrong, and may not be.

My only source is the Japanese game, Japan had a single version of the game in cartridge, and a single version of "Phantasy Star 0 Mini" as a downloadable game for the DSi, but they are not related, in fact, it's just a mini version of PSŲ, no character customization (you play as Sarisa, Kai or Ogi) and only one stage (the Valley with its boss), I don't know if it has exclusive items, but if it has, those items belong to that dsiware game, not to PSŲ (they are not compatible games)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzLZLKrjMxU

(btw, the one playing apparently has no idea about combos, he's just smashing the button...)

I don't know if your quote belongs to sega, but if it does, I think they are just giving it a little marketing...

SpookyLotus

But, that is what I was saying. I figured it had no compatibility with PS0, it was just its own version.

Now, I was likely wrong in believing that the game will come out in US, but it does exist.

OH SNAP! I think we have a problem...

My internet on my DSi can only be set up from the "advanced setup" option on connection settings.. is that WPA or whatever the dreaded type of security it is the DSi isnt friends with? I have Platinum and it says the access point isnt compatible, ill have to check mario kart to see if it connects but platinum is newer...

im going to have trouble with Zero arent I?

My DSi gets on the Web though... this is BS man

ALL DSs are usually enemies of WPA. I've had that problem for a while, with verizon routers, as did all of my friends. You have to use that commmand, like I said before.
Most of the info needed is the same on any computer in the area, I found. So, if you have a friend who has a computer, use his, go to Nintendo.com, and put in teh error code. They're tell youe xcatly what to do. (IPconfig? in comand prompt?)

It's a shame that many game systems don't support WPA. Sooner or later, they'll all support it. The issue with the DS is that the support for those protocols are built into each cart. So if a game (like PS0) doesn't have WPA support, you can't use WPA. The wifi settings used on the DSi (without a cart) for instance, only work for the DSi programs and utilities that are in the system itself (Web browser, DSiWare, etc). (Not for cart games)

SpookyLotus

Yup, yup... I found a program for hacked DSs, and it just sets the data for any card the same.

I had this problem between Phantom Hour Glass(worked with no problem), Animal Crossing 9Had a bit of trouble), and mariokart(Which just refused to work), along with a few other games.

But, with some work, they all work now. =D
