After the success of The Wackofather (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167841) I figured we could jump straight into the second round. Just a brief reminder:

So what is The Wackofather? The Wackofather is going to be a slightly themed game of Mafia (http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Newbie_Guide). For a basic explanation, here's an excerpt from the wiki:

In its simplest form, Mafia consists of two sides: the Mafia (http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Mafia), and the Town (http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Town). The Mafia's goal (http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Win_condition) is to kill the innocents, while the Town's goal is to kill the Mafia. At the beginning of the game, the Moderator (http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Moderator) will secretly send everyone their role. The Mafia will know each other, while (in the basic game) everyone else will only know their own role.

The game has two phases. Usually the first is Night (http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Night). During Night, the Town can not communicate, but the Mafia can discuss and choose someone to murder. After the Moderator has received the name of the victim, the Moderator reveals the dead player, and Day (http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Day) begins.
During Day, the Town must choose someone to Lynch (http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Lynch); they are trying to eliminate the Mafia, but the Mafia can lead them astray by casting suspicion elsewhere. Generally, players will vote for someone they think is Mafia (the Mafia will vote so that they seem to be doing this as well, and might even vote for each other to confuse the Town); when a player gets a majority of the votes, they are lynched. Their role is revealed by the Moderator, and it is once again Night.

The game alternates between Night and Day until either the Mafia are eliminated, or the Mafia have killed everyone else.

There are a ton of special roles, like vigilante, cop, godfather, etc. If we get enough people to join in I might throw in an extra role or two. But for now, we'll just stick with the simple Mafia/Townspeople roleset. Though I do plan on having the Godfather (aka the Wackofather) in the game anyways.

For a more visual explanation, as well as alternative roles, check out this flash (http://cataldo.freeshell.org/mafia/mafiascum04.swf).

-----------

There will be a few differences this time around.

First, I will be sure to PM every player their role, rather than just PMing the Mafia like I did last time. Hopefully this will cause less confusion/no shows.

Second, the game will start off in a night phase like before, but no players of the game will wind up dead on the next day phase.

And finally, if we can get up to 20 players this round, I plan on introducing at least one or two alternative class, such as cop, vigilante, etc. Sign ups end on Friday. So let's see your game face!

I will now exact my vengeance.

Actually, for the last game, since you had said there was going to be a "wackofather", I'd actually assumed you'd made a cop, in order for it to be relevant.

If we actually get enough people to play this time, I have a special arrangement with Spike so I can still play even though I won't be here most of next week. He'll be posting my votes and other stuff for me, while giving me general information as to what happens from day to day.

I figured I would post this now so people don't get creeped-out that Spike's posting votes and whatnot.

You haven't said the sign-ups are closed, and I have nothing better to do, so I'm in.

If it's still open.... I suppose I can participate.

Since I won't work all time on our school computers... libraries tend to be distracting, 'kay?

Unless nine hours of time difference are a problem.

Nah, rounds are not that fast, nor require instant action. It's very timezone friendly for a forum game. Though, I'd recommend at least checking the thread once a day, posting or not, vacations and such obviously are fine.

Some people were inactive across the span of several days without notice, actually not even posting in the game at all before it ended. Kinda boggled it up a bit.

I'll keep that in mind.
