He's ranting cause a company whom he already bears ill will towards took away his favorite channel. Alas poor Yorick, we hardly knew thee.

So, you're ranting because one business bought something from another business?

Um... yeah.

Ok first of all, you just don't get it do you?

Versus is a high profile sports network who televises the NHL, MMA, college football, and other such sports.

Did you not come into this thread thinking before you posted? What if this guy is into the NHL? As a Washigton Captials fan, I'm lucky to live here in Maryland where I can see their games on...ironicly...Comcast Sportsnet (I'll get into this part later).

Now what if Versus decided to broadcast one of their NHL games featuring the Captials (or a NHL playoff series) and I lived in...say...Boston? As a Directv customer myself, I'd be shut out of the game completely because I don't have their NHL package, nor would I get to see the game because those idiots at comcast decided to kick Versus off their lineup.

What if the same was said if I wanted to see World Extreme Cagefighting (MMA)? A College Football game (even though I'm not into college sports)?

That's why this story about Versus being kicked off Directv is a HUGE DEAL TO ANY SPORTS FAN WHO HAS DIRECTV! Now what I find hypocritical, is that Comcast is willing to have their Comcast Sportsnet apart of Directv, but yet they'll no longer have Versus.

I know why....and this is the reason why I switched from Comcast to Directv in the first place: Because Comcast is a damn joke with overpriced service that countines to go up in price every year, their customer service is feces, their internet is not as reilable as the ISP I have now, they shut their customers out of high profile networks like HDNet and now Versus, they (and pretty much any cable service) make customers pay for the NFL Network when we can get it for FREE with Satilite, and most of their channels aren't in clear digital as they claim they are with the digital cable.

Do you get it now? Do you now understand why this is a big deal? In fact I know for sure now you didn't think before you posted, because Comcast never bought Versus as you try to say there.....they've OWNED Versus since it's beginnings.

So the moral of the story is, comcast sucks, and always think before posting. Have a nice day.

tl;dr:I'm going to commit logical fallacies for the next hour.

Please refrain from ad hominem. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_Hominem)

Yeah, my point still stands. This is someone getting worked up over normal inter-business activities.

Also, I should mention, that I actually get decent internet out of comcast. Especially for gaming, with the 5 Mb/s upload rate.

But yeah, this is normal capitalism at work. No laws have been broken. If Comcast owns a channel, and they don't want their competition showing it, it's their prerogative to take a logical action. (Somehow I doubt they just outright pulled the plug though-I suspect a licensing agreement came up for renewal, and they didn't reach a new agreement)

1) And getting worked up for vaild reasons which has been proven true based on my experinces with comcast in the last 2 years that I have had their service.

2) I get 7 Mb/s upload rate with my wireless internet provider, XOHM.

3) If this is really about competition, then why does Comcast still have their Comcast Sportsnet channels as part of other providers packages? Where's the logic in that? How are Directv customers gonna watch the NHL or WEC now, my friend? Licensing agreement, my butt.

quick solution to problem - stop complaining and switch back to comcast.
or are your parents still in charge of what service you're subscribed to? :P

The logic is that if a high-demand channel is either expensive for other providers to have, or Comcast-exclusive, it makes more money for Comcast (Either in licensing fees or more subscribers)

If you are responding to the other guy...zfighter14....disreguard the following and I will delete this post and issue an apology.

If you are responding to me, then for FYI, I happen to be 26...living on my own...and paying for my own services, jackass. To tell me to just switch back to comcast, only shows your lack of intelligence and how you most likely blew over what I had to say about them earlier. So, good luck to you....paying for their high priced feces service.

You give Marylanders a bad image. Could you quit posting your keyboard diarrhea?

For the record, I have had pretty much flawless service with Comcast, and I certainly do NOT pay anywhere near as badly as everyone makes it out to be. Sorry if you got raped by them in the past, but business is business regardless of how it makes any sense or not. Remember when Comcast created G4, then bought out TechTV, absorbed all of the shows, laid off thousands of hard working individuals all in the name of "competition"? Yeah, that didn't make much sense either, but they did it. So long as there is competition, there will be a company willing to play dirty to get ahead. That's how it works.

So you want Versus? Your only logical option is to go back to Comcast, unless you feel you can somehow convince them to give Versus back to the other providers.

Well where i live all i can get is direct tv (satellite) because it would cost more money to run a cable from the road to my house then for the comcast network its self. cheaper for a dish network

Now that's unfortunate. I've never been unable to watch my team's football games, but I can imagine I'd be pretty mad if my ability to watch them was taken away. :disapprove:

Holy bologna, I came to this thread hoping to find a swinging take-a-piss-on-Comcast party, and you lot are defending them? Balls to that. I just switched from Comcast to AT&T--what a relief (except the guy who did installation scratched up the staircase walls with his ladder, and that shit is hard to repaint. So thanks, jerkface.) Never had any of the ultra-premium packages for TV, so I can't comment on that, but the internet connection was rubbish compared even to the mid-level DSL I had out in the boonies--not just slower, but liable to go out frequently, sometimes for days on end. And customer service was terrible, prices kept creeping up, and whenever they claimed to be lowering our rate it would shoot up higher than before within a month or two.

I suspect all these companies provide hugely varying levels of service depending on location, though. Only time will tell if AT&T can so thoroughly earn my loathing.

At least Comcast provided laughably bad commercials and PSAs. But don't get me started on those damn turtles!

Thank you, what these Comcast fanboys--who would gladly jump off a bridge to defend them--fail to understand is how Comcast contunies to raise their prices of their services despite the crap customer service, crap internet which they claim is faster than DSL, and even those horrible commercials. "It's Comcastic!" Way to be orignal. *roll eyes*

How come my grandmother now pays $67.89 in 2009, yet she paid $49.34 about 3 years ago? Yeah I just spoke to her about this before she went to bed for the night. So I, nor this guy, nor my grandmother, aren't the only ones burned by Comcrap.

You have fun enjoying your overrated, overpriced service.

I like Comcast's service in general. My internet almost never goes down, never get any lag, great speed, etc...

But when it comes to dealing with them for installation, or any changes to your service, then holy shit they suck bad.

When I moved a few years ago, I called them to tell them to cancel the internet at my previous address only. because it was going to be added. A few days later my aunt calls me (who lives at the residence I just moved out of) asking me why the F the cable is out. Yep, they cancelled everything all together.

Then next. getting it installed over at my house involved a contractor (bad news around here) who left a mess, wasn't certified to wall fish to complete the job I needed, and actually tried to bail on me without the job being complete and have me sign the work order--which I obviously didn't do until he finished it.

tl:dr; The service itself and great and reliable, but the people however are the polar opposite.
