Photon fortune/Luck affects regular drop rates & grind success. It doesn't affect special drops or rare appearance.

on grinding, yes

everything else, no

Effects of Photon Fortune:
* Slightly increases success rate when grinding weapons.
* Increases enemy drop rate.

Although many of these are still widely believed by the general player base, none of the following are affected by Photon Fortune:
* Quality of drops
* Chance for super-rare items (such as S-rank weapon boards) to drop
* Item drops from boss boxes
* Synthing success rate or attribute percentage
* Rare spawn appearance rate
* Casino Voloyal slot machine odds
* Special drops such as Gugg Crown or Gaozoran Rod

Yeah, meseta is that 'regular' or 'anything' drops I mentioned. You can see the difference if you kill a room on no luck & on 3* luck.

Type luck into PSUpedia and when you see it links to Photon Fortune, come back and say you were wrong.

Are you thinking of the luck stat on PSO? There isn't a luck stat on PSU.

EDIT: Also on PSU at least, luck and Photon Fortune are the same. Obviously in real life this is not the case.

Alright, those of you who don't like reading my posts should just move along, because I'm about to go on another rant of mine again...

[spoiler-box]

"Max luck" in PSU is just a gimmick - a lame excuse for Sonic Team to reward us when they fuck up or give us an event, something to supposedly get us excited. It doesn't really matter anyway, because they always jack up the drop rate during events anyway, and items that USED to be valuable suddenly flood the market and aren't worth shit anymore. This, in turn, causes power creep by becoming the new standard for stuff to equip, and then suddenly S rank items aren't so awesome and special anymore, especially when they're FUCKING SELLING FOR LESS THAN 100K SO NOOBS CAN EASILY BUY AND EQUIP THEM AT LOW LEVELS JUST FROM SPAMMING WHITE BEAST RUNS. Sonic Team's gaming design at it's finest, I tell ya... -_-

During non-event times, I've usually found items with all kinds of luck ratings, albeit usually when I least expect it. The only thing luck REALLY has helped me with (and only minutely) was with grind rates, farming synth materials, and rare maps. As far as specific drops, like Igg Crowns or Vijeri/Resists... you just need real bullshit luck for that. Really makes you feel like you earned something by having to constantly spam and zerg through the same mission over and over, instead of just doing a challenging quest or something ONCE for it... >_<

Sometimes it seems to help the rarity of regular box drops and rare maps but that could just be wishful thinking ;)

Real luck matters more, but it doesn't hurt to have the placebo effect of photon fortune.

Pretty much, photon fortune helps but just barely, it adds up with every kill but meh :-( up to you if you wanna pay for it, its 10k so its not like trading a vital organ :o

....It doesn't matter what kind of luck you have when grinding! If ya smellll-oh wait

Luck does not matter(except when grinding).

If the item you want isn't a boss or clear box drop, more luck increases the sheer number of drops which does decrease the average number of runs required to get it. However, pretty much everything everyone wants isn't affected by luck, reducing its value to "grinding day."

This.
Real luck always plays a factor in everything. But the photon fortune increases % chance on grinding attempts, and I think the drop rate of "mob" items. (not the boxes)
So, I'd say luck matters for those reasons. ^^

Whatever the case, I remember (when I played PSU) that whenever I had 2 star luck, I seemed to find stuff more then usual. Based off my memory, the last event is a prime example. With 2 star luck, I soloed Protectors δ and got a Killer Elite board my first run. Also, I was hunting Carriguine Blades and I got about 27 within an hour with my 2 star luck. (Link below if you wanna know how)

But I see you said you were looking for a Repca. Let me put it this way..........Not even 4 star luck would help you find that thing, you just gotta keep going and going. Agito Repca [B] is one of the few rares I have never saw drop. And I have been playing for 3 years doing True Darkness a lot.

For once, I agree with you.

The only times I've found anything decent outside of events, is when I had 0 or 1 photon fortune.
I have a video of me finding 3 Psychowands on 1 mission with 0 luck.
The mission was....Sleeping Warriors.
I will upload it back up to youtube, and re-post here if anyone needs proof.
