So the japanese version now has the free to play mode where you basicly cant do much except interact socialy and play a few missions. Well the question is simple ...

Do you think people would like this to be added to the xbox and us/euro servers?

I for one would LOVE this i could just pay for a month when i have time to REALY grind then just keep up with friends and do some RP here and there when i dont have that kind of time. I think i am not alone here also i beleive many players would love to see this happen then they could at least casualy play with their friends when they are low on cash / dont want to pay. I also beleive this might help stimulate players of old to come back and at least give it another go,maybe seing the new stuff they cant do and whatotehrs have might make them think of playing it again if only for a few months at a time. At the very least the servers will have more life and with that i think we will see an influx of players willing to pay to play again.

I think it's a great idea and could probably help the pc/ps2 population, but not sure if we'll be getting this or not down the road.

Hardly anyone on JP uses it, it's a joke. At best it's a 3d chatroom, the restrictions on missions are insane. Might as well use MSN/AIM whatever to keep in touch.

Full list of what a community player can (more like can't) do:

Free mission: C rank only
Story mission: Chapter 1 & 2 C rank only
Sidestory mission: no
Party mission: no
Co-op mission: no
Event mission: no
Rare free mission: You can win the right to play, but you can't play it
Race mission: yes
Standby mission: race mission only
GAM: no
GAS: no
GC: no

Well hey if you don't mind spamming C rank for a rare mission chance on all your chars...

oops left out a few details

No myroom
No item trading
No picking up stuff others drop in mission
No shared box access from vendors
No casino coin pickup
No EXP on chars over lvl 50
No PA exp on stuff over lvl 20
No MP if type is over 3

It's a fancy chatroom with some free 'mini' games to play for lulz. I wish it's here, just for fun.

I think this would be a good thing for newbie players to get their feet wet with the online game a bit, but considering Sega's record of incompetence with managing and updating PSU, I think it should be free entirely, unless they get their asses in gear with some good content and balancing. =/

I Disagree. Here is why: you have to BUY the game right? So if you make that commitment, you are probably ready to take the next step and pay for just ONE MONTH of playing. that's 2 months to get your feet wet; enough to decide if you like the game or not. If the game was free to download like some MMOs then it would make sense.

But PSU IS free to download... if you know how. :D

Pretty much what Tet just said.
I didn't pay for my first sopy of AotI for PC.
I then reformatted my computer, and didn't want to wait for it to get it again....
So I went to Gamestop and bought the game.

Of course, it doesn't help when an actual physical copy of AotI (or even the original PSU, for that matter) is so damned hard to find nowadays. I hardly ever see it floating around any of the local gaming stores I visit... of course, I live in fucking Arkansas, so go figure. <_>;

I have a physical copy of PSU, and although I've been tempted to use it as target practice with one of my dad's shotguns (lol), it might actually be a collector's item someday, considering its rarity... at least around here, anyway.

So this will basically turn the real game of PSU into the Demo mode, great.

If that's the case, let me go to Gamestop and grab em all lol.
(on the official forums)
I posted how many gamestops there are around my area(50miles)
There's about 20 ish, forget the exact number, and total for 360, Pc, and Ps2 (of AotI)
There are about 40 copies all together.
Gib money, and I will buy for ya!
(or just (if you want) order from my area code. 32935)

I've just about given up brick and mortar shopping in favour of going online, myself. Got my copy of AotI for something like a tenbux at Newegg.

I can see it's usefulness to players who want to keep in touch but don't want to bother paying for a subscription anymore.

Except it's a free download for Japanese players now.
You gotta pay for a gamekey but you get the remainder of the month free so it's basically a monthly fee + 50 yen.

With as many players that sit around the demo servers on 360, I see no reason not to bring this over. As usual though, you guys can keep Guardians Cash.. we don't want it. :)

You don't want the rares either then, I take it.

Yeah your right, theres alot of games ik friends are playing that are much more fun and has alot to do that are online ex. S4 league, cabal, PSO(dont have a good pc so cant playthese atm:( )
Even if you paid for a game like pinkace said, there are games that are free to play online, ex.burnout, killzone, deadlocked
Bottom line, this should be free to play:wacko:

You're absolutely correct.

I actually think it's a good idea. There's a lot of players I've seen on PSU who do nothing but just stand in the damn lobby and spam it up with chat. This would appeal perfectly to some of those players.

If they are able to customize their looks that would be more than enough for them. This option would add to the population and IMO would only make things better for the game. Bigger population = people coming back and/or new people being attracted by population... which results in an even bigger population, and so on and so forth.

Though I kinda think it's too little too late.

I basically sit afk or chat on psu now anyway, might as well implement it. I'll just pay when they gib some damn content.

I think it'd be a good idea and there's certainly no harm in it. But I don't think they'll implement it on the US/EU side for us.
