Hello!
I've got a gold membership on xbox live, and I've subscribed for PSU, yet when I connect it only comes up can't connect to server, retry or exit.
I've tried many times, on different days and it won't let me on.
Playing offline works.

Try Sign-Out from Live, then turn off your 360.
Wait 2 mins and start up your 360, see if it lets you play.
It is not a must 'Gold Member' to play PSU on-line.
