Giant El Rappies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Help

I'm on 135 and have seen a million giant rappies, but me and my friend got down to talking about why they are there. they are the exact same in every way to a regular El rappy just....giant. does anyone know what the point is? or is it just an easter egg from sonic team?
