The 3 O's Overrated, over hyped and overplayed and before you start ranting please continue reading. I preordered the game and I'm going to a midnight release tournament so obviously I like the series. I noticed the countdown on the website and when that occurs the active players on psu will decrease on the 360 server.Anyways this if the official praise and bash Call Of Duty Thread please post your opinions here.

I never liked the Call of Duty series. I don't know what it is about it. I just can't get into it, plain and simple. Believe me, I've tried. It's just too bland for me.
I agree. I'm a Halo fan. I just don't like modern day or war stuff.

FPS...if you played one, You played them all :L...(that's my opinion on ALL FPS though)
shoot the other guy with the gun, Its a repeating process, then add a number next to it and some catchy subtitle and they got a new game :L
Add some Science Fiction or super powers like Slow-motion, shields...etc.
I played some...I don't hate it but thats how I see FPS'es are made of.

Seeing as how the infinite spawns are supposed to be gone, I think this might be pretty cool. Definitely looking forward to it.
This almost looks like it belongs in rants. Almost.
Being that I'm morally opposed to the stagnation of creativity in the industry, I can't justify buying a Call of Duty game (that's set during WWII). I hear the next one by Treyarch will be set during Vietnam...
I did try Modern Warfare though. Didn't really like it; it felt really basic for a first-person shooter and seemed to lack a lot of verticality (but maybe I've been spoiled on the likes of Tribes and Legions).

The only CoD I've ever bought was WaW, and I'd give it a 6/10.
The campaign was easy enough, even on Veteran. On Veteran it was basically "how many cheap kills can you take" and some extra free time. Multiplayer on it was just a load of crap. I'm not whining, because I was amazing at it, but it just sucked. It was so unbalanced and retarded that I gave up and went back to halo, which is a lot more fair/fun.

I've only played CoD4, and I wasn't very impressed by it. Graphically the game looks awesome... but that's about it. I played counter-strike 1.6 alot back in the day and this just felt like a complete downgrade (and not because of I was going from a keyboard/mouse to a controller). Campaign was pretty amazing though for CoD4 (the flashback stealth mission comes to mind). Campaign is probably the only thing I'm looking forward to in CoD:MW2.
Shadowrun and Halo 3 are both more fun than CoD IMO

Same here and the gameplay of most FPS doesn't appeal to me ether.

Call of Duty 4 was great Imo. I am not a fan of the mutiplayer in Cod games, just the single Player.

I've only ever been hooked on two FPS games.
Jedi Knight (Star wars, plus mods, plus being younger)
BF2142 (God I love titan mode)

Campaign was great in MW, except the infinite spawns. Those are NEVER acceptable. Mutliplayer turns into a frag fest on most maps which is annoying, Prestieging was pointless, the final gun you unlock is a piece of shit, I can't put my golden camo on any gun I want to, and the M16 is broken to the point where you can snipe people with sniper rifles.
Iron sights suck universally.

Oh please bring back the WWII Call of Duty games and *gasp* dedicated servers. Well, team A WWII games, that is. No one sensible liked WaW.
Modern Warfare is/was fun, but I really do miss the satisfaction of plugging a sprayer in the head with a KAR.
Or give us pistol achievements/the option to start off with two and the bandolier perk. The deagle can pretty easily outdo the m16 in number of sheer wtf headshots/claims of "Hacker".
Actually, just give us dedicated servers and stop pretending MW:2 isn't a 360 port.

I'm far from a big Call of Duty fan, but Call of Duty 4 is really a high point in video game storytelling.
Not necessarily the plot, mind you - but the actual storytelling.
For one reason or another, it seems like everybody in my office is super into Call of Duty - even the crappy ones. I can't really explain it.

I'm not really a fan of FPS's, I would even go so far as to say that I hate the FPS genre. With the exception of the Halo series I have yet to play a FPS that I enjoy so obviously I don't have a high opinion of the Call Of Duty series.
I avoided the earlier COD games because the whole entire WWII thing just seemed very generic and felt it had been done to death in the FPS genre. I showed some interest in COD4: Modern Warfare because of the modern setting and the more modern equipment but when I played it I felt it was just as generic and un-original as any other FPS. So in short I agree, the COD series is overrated, overhyped and overplayed.

lol, I'm laughing myself, but I remember playing Turok as a youngun and it just grew on me. I'm glad everyone thought it was crappy, since I was able to get it from a game store for only 7 bucks. It's a shame about Goldeneye, but the Multiplayer in Perfect Dark was much better.
As for Call of Duty, I'm not going to say anything until I play his new one coming out. I played 4 and loved it, but skipped out on WaW.

Yeah, I remember having a lot of fun with Turok, but I also think it was the first 3D FPS I played (and it was one of the first FPS games on the N64), so it made much more an impact than it would have otherwise.
I probably shouldn't be so harsh. Thinking back, I guess the first was a good, fun game for its time.

What a shame about Goldeneye, it would have been one of the best arcade games.
I will be getting Perfect Dark when that comes out, Perfect Dark Zero was a disappointment.
Turok was one of the few Mature games on the N64 to my knowledge, and the 1st I ever played for that matter. When I rented turok with my cousin, it was the first time I heard the word mature . We played it for maybe a half hour, and then my mom brought us back to the store to get a game more kid friendly. I only got to play it when I went to my cousins house, but we use to play it for several hours.

Ugh, Perfect Dark Zero.
I paid $5 for it and I still feel like I was ripped off.
I've kind of been itching to play Perfect Dark again over the past couple of years, so I'm definitely somewhat interested in the 360 re-release.

I paid 60 dollars for it when the 360 was lacking games. The first year and a half the 360 was out I went back to Halo 2.
What did you dislike about it so much, the storyline? (That would be pretty understandable.) Perfect Dark Zero was my first 360 game, and I still think it's a high point in the technical design of first-person shooters.
I played more of it over Xbox Live than I have any other game in my collection. I really liked how it was a slap in the face to anyone that favored run-and-gun or spray-and-pray gameplay, and actually forced you to be precise and tactical to win.
And how what would otherwise be considered the wimpiest gun in the game (Falcon) actually turned out to be the most powerful for actually taking down another player.

Mostly for its crummy controls, last-gen level design, broken stealth sections ("Oh, hey guards... you, uh... you saw me through three walls? That's cool, I guess"), and just the games general ignorance of any improvements to FPS games that had been made within the past couple of years.
I never completed it, so maybe it really turns around in the end, but I know I never want to play through the awful snow/stealth level or that terribly confusing jungle level.
But yeah, the story was pretty silly as well. To be honest, I liked the alien plot of the first game despite how ridiculous it all was. (I mean, you teamed up with a muppet-sounding alien named Elvis. It was great.)

No, PDZ doesn't get better at the end. Sadly, the entire game is terrible. I agree with you on pretty much all points.
