This is the most addictive game on the DS!!!
Pokemon isn't this addictive
Crystal Chronicles Isn't this addictive
Hell, my favorite DS game Mario Kart isn't even this addictive (BTW im pro at that game) haha
I love the MAGs being in the game, the random level layouts, the random creatures, the level design, the items, the way items work, the character designs, monster designs, and most of all how amazing the Wifi works...its truely a technical achievement
Anyone else in love with this game right now? lol

OMFG THIS GAME IS AMAZING, THE GAME I WAITED FOR SINCE PSO.
Seriously, I knew all the haters were trolls, this game is freaking amazing.
What do you guys think about PSZ so far? It meets up to all of my expectations, even better.

I'm currently enjoying the game. I've been waiting for a really
good DS game to come out, it finally did. :)
PSZ is bringing many good memories of playing PSO with my
husband and friends. I'll be picking at this game for some time.

Just beat first boss, Octo Diablo (?) in story mode. Things got bleak when both of my party members died, and for the first time since PSO, I felt like I was going to get wasted by a boss because I simply wasn't strong enough. after fumbling through the item menus (which you have to stand still while you're in!), I used the one moon atomizer I had. Since my party members handled the healing/standing still and dying, the boss was all mine. I hope this kind of dynamic remains present as I get further into the game. I'm really impressed.
On a side note, I know this is intended to have a new art style and world, but Casts look absolutely atrocious. There, I said it. >:|

LOL! Jesus Christ I know. At first it told me "It'll ship on the 12th". Then it told me the 16th and now the 13th! What the fuh?
I know that I'm going to be GLUED to this game when I get it. Lookin through the Strat guide I know I'm barely gonna be using it let alone lookin in it. Which reminds me what ever happened to that one dude who wanted to make a PSP2 "Brotherhood" to hate on PSZ?
Still not as good as PSO, but at least it's portable, eh?

With like 15 different classes to choose from, this will definitely most likely not get boring.

I donno, this is a bit better except for the online matchups. Its harder to get together with your friends/random people.

Better thought up and put together than psu imo. Too bad it's just for a hand held game system.

I have to say, I really like this. Still gonna play PSO as often as I can, but this is a nice change of pace for me.

I'm just glad its not touch screen heavy. It would be kinda akward to run around hammering on the attack button with the stylus. Although having an item menu on the bottom and selecting what mate to use in a flash would be usefull.

I think im a bit spoiled from playing so much PS:P, cuz I find the graphics in particular to be cringe-worthy. PS:P/2 just looks so damn sexy and the pixelated, jagged 3d models and flat, uninspired backgrounds of PSZ are downright bad. The sound in PSZ is pretty awful, as well....though, im really glad they decided to use some of the old sound fx from PSO...that really saved that aspect of the game for me.
All that being said, I couldnt be happier with the online portion of PSZ. Its extremely fun, well implemented, and exactly what im looking for in a multiplayer handheld.
Dont take my cosmetic criticisms the wrong way, cuz PSZ is a winner simply on its wifi merits alone.

Okay, rant: People, quit saying the graphics are awful, for DS, they are incredible. Only surpassed by... Well.. Nothing. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Dragon Quest IX come close, but still don't hold a candle to it. Yes, PS/P had amazing graphics, and it also had a slow framerate in multi mode. PSZ has no slowdown from multiple players, and only about a quarter second of a delay when multiple large mobs are spawning. The DS has a 128 MB limit to games, and a much much smaller maximum polygon count compared to the PSP, so naturally it'll look nowhere near as good. As for the sound, I admit a few of the SFX are bad, but many are also from PSO, and have a lovely nostalgia factor. The music is great, as are the cutscenes, and that's all I care about. I will say that the DS is capable of much better sound quality, but Sega likely just toned down that part of the game to make room for what really matters. /rant
As for how I feel about the game... It actually holds my interest, which is something that PSO seldom manages. The game is fast-paced enough that I enjoy it, and even the grinding is fun. The graphics are very impressive for the DS, and I've been wowed several times already. Not bad for a system that's between an N64 and a DC graphically. I'm enjoying the story, and the online is amazing.

Agreed Kagi the game looks incredible. You really cant judge it by the laggy videos on the net and reviews of people playing this on emulators! I just got the game and was pleasantly surprised it looked totally different in actual play. The controls arent that clunky as some would describe either I was able to get the hang of it in just a few minutes. And now I must partake in the awsomeness that is PS0... I dont even have internet now but who the hell cares its still great game

Okay, so I've been playing PSZ for a little while now, and I admit that I'm having fun with it. The fighting is far more intense than PSO for sure, although PSO:BB allows me to use all the attack techniques I want rather than just one attack technique, a melee attack, roll, anti, resta, and fluids. Free Play is very fun despite the lack of a proper speech function, although there are a few phrases they could have added, like "Disconnecting." or "ROAR!" or even "Your mag/weapon is cool!" Despite what others say, I'm enjoying the character models so much. My FOnewearl looks adorable, and my RAcaseal isn't straying far from my PSO RAcaseal. Although more customization would have indeed helped, I'm not bothered by the graphics since it's a DS game. Sega made up for it with some damn creative enviorments. I'm enjoying the charge attack and charge techniques too. Saves space instead of having to waste a pallet slot for reverser. The major downside is that because the saving is console side, you can only have three characters. I don't want to buy another copy of the game! Another thing that bothered me a bit was the fact that there was no medical center. Although this isn't something that makes me upset, I ended up wasting a good ten minutes searching for it before I realized that it must not exist. The level cap doesn't bother me as well. It allows for some good playing time.

I've been having quite a bit of fun with this game so far. I found myself forgetting to eat the rest of my food earlier like a 5 yr old too focused on his DS to care
I've played a load of DS titles since it's launch, and Phantasy Star Zero is actually quite a well done 3D title for the system I'll say.

I've personally found the game to be incredibly addicting myself, but like xSHiNOx said, it does become boring a bit afterward.
Even so, I do enjoy it. I've been playing it non-stop since the 11th, it's just so damn addicting!!
I'm so tempted to play it while in bed until I fall asleep.

Very nice game, good entry in the Phantasy Star series.
The graphics are among the best I've seen on a DS, and considering the graphical limitations of a DS compared with a PSP, it's unfair to compare PSZ's graphics with PSP2's graphics since it's obvious which wins in that department.
It plays well, it's pretty smooth, online works well, but has some things I find particularly jarring:
-if you're accessing menus or changing weapons you can't move; this could have been fixed by allowing you to navigate menus using the touch screen, but instead you use the D-pad, freezing you on the spot as a consequence
-this negative point is Nintendo's fault: the friendcodes do NOT, I repeat, do NOT help to keep a sense of community in this game; you either know your friend's code or you don't, and playing in random parties limits your communication to a set of limited phrases and no way of keeping those player's contacts if you happen to enjoy playing with them (if it's possible, I didn't manage to find that option yet)
-this negative point is, also, Nintendo's fault: the DS D-pad is not very adequate for the game, you'll realise you have a hard time with aiming instantly on a diagonal if you have to due to the way the D-pad on a DS (any model) is made
-having to unlock stuff in offline mode to play them in online mode; while I know this is how PSO worked very well, considering that they changed this for PSOBB at some point (considering PSOBB's "Solo Mode" option as the game's offline mode here) and consequently made PSU and even PSP1 and PSP2 have no need to "unlock" areas in offline mode to play them in online mode, I find this choice in PSZ to be rather bizarre and illogical, specially for someone who might, potentially, only want to play it online or in local multiplayer with friends
-minor complaint follows, regarding PSZ's Japanese version compared with the US version: the intro theme song was removed in the US version and the "press start" song was moved to the intro movie instead, while putting in some other random song in the "press start" screen (why?)
-second complaint, regarding PSZ's Japanese version compared with the US version, this one not so minor, but it's in fact Nintendo's fault, not SEGA's: PSZ's Japanese promo weapons that are Nintendo related are all "censored" in the US version of PSZ; Link's Shield, Samus' Cannon, Mario's Green Pipe Cannon, etc, etc, etc, all are in the game, but with generic, default, models and names from the basic game weapons (for example, Link's Shield is called simply "Shield", Samus' Cannon is simply called "Handgun", etc), while still keeping the exact same stats and sounds (which causes a certain weapon to look odd since it's using a photon saber model, yet it's doing "iron saber" swing sounds) they had in the Japanese version of PSZ
Despite these predicaments (some minor, some not so minor), PSZ is still enjoyable and a highly recommended DS game (specially for Phantasy Star fans).
Everyone, just remember, there's enough space for both PSZ and PSP2 to co-exist, let's not kill each other because one isn't on the other console, it's totally not worth it and both are good games in their own right.
