Don't get me wrong, I love Phantasy Star Zero. It's addictive, fun and challenging.
But the story.. Oh god.
When I started playing I read through all of the sequences (HUmar), but right about when the second main mission starts I had enough of this crap.
It reeeeeeally feels like the characters stretch what they want to say into 50 sentences. I got annoyed by it big time and started skipping every dialog which I don't usually do because I mostly enjoy the plot of video games (Professor Layton, The World Ends With You, ...)

But this game has the "Trauma Center"- syndrome.
You just want to freakin play the game instead of reading unnecessary text.

What do you think about that matter?

I have over 500 hours clocked for FFT alone. Nevermind the other FFs and numerous JRPGs out there.

The text was no where near bad really. It had plenty of highlights and funny moments.

They just needed the characters to develop further me thinks. It was too light for so much text. If they dove deeper, it would of been better.

They should have done what psp did. They made it all voice acted, and did it around a game where you can name your character, it's the only game I've seen do this and it should be done WAY more. I like listening not reading... I even sat through EVERY SECOND of the cut scenes in all the MGS games... for those who don't know, the later MGS games had up to some 15 minute cut scenes, frequently.

At the end, I just skipped away.

Did you play MGS4? Can we say 1.5 hour finale cutscene?

I read it. It wasn't half bad in many ways, not the highlight of the game though. I really did have to keep my hand off of the skip button though. Most of the time I was just like GIB RAREZ GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO NEXT STAGE.

I forced myself to read the story. It was...better(?) than expected.

I'm way more than sorry to say I didn't play MGS4... or should I say I haven't YET. The ps3 finally got down to where I wanna buy it but I have a student loan and bills to pay first. The only thing on the ps3 that is worth getting imo is MGS4 and that's more than enough for me... it's probably the one series of game that I can enjoy more than PSO/0 but I only beat each game (mgs) 3 times. So what you're saying is, don't beat the game before work?

I didn't skip the story, it was decent, at least compared to PSO's story. (In my opinion at least.)

EDIT: Wait, PSO didn't even have a main story, beside "What?! THE DRAGON ATTACKED YOU?!?!?!"
