Well, I purchased the game and I must say it is very fun, just for being offline. I couldn't find a broadband adapter, so I have yet to purchase a HL and such... But the more I read around these forums I begin to not want to go online. With no money for a keyboard (not to mention the rarity) and the constant threads directed towards rude players and cheaters really turns me away from online play. I desperately need your opinions and views.

Earlier on I asked if the online community was nice and received positive responses; however, in the short time that I bought the game and asked that question, a few negative threads have popped up. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Please tell me what you think. Is GC PSO really worth the online expenses and maybe even $80+ for a keyboard (and having this would seem sort of obnoxious towards players who do not have a KB)?

Also, a question about the servers. I have a friend in Australia who will be purchasing GC PSO soon and I was wondering if I will be able to play with him? How do servers work now? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Thank you all *very* much for your time and comments. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Yes I'd say it is. I made some good freinds to play with and the majority of the people outside of vega are niced kids and good to play with. The KB thing is tough but there is the PC KB adapter that you may be able to score if your lucky and thats cheap. Other then that I'd say go for it. I have great fun playing online and really enjoy it. If you do get online I'll play with ya and be nice. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

You should be able to play with him, as long as he has the US Version, or JP Ver. 1.1. As for the kb situation, wait till a cheaper alternative comes out like I am. As for the adapters, look hard enough and you will find one.

Best Buy, Walmarts and bigger chain stores should have the adapters in stock. That or you can get em direct off nintendos website.

It's not worth it in my honest opinion. Many of my friends have allready quit the game because of how things are and just the people in general piss them off etc me as well. I understand why they left. There are still some great people to play with but the game itself bores me greatly or so it seems now. I don't think it's worth the money anymore, perhaps if you had an xbox...

Oi, for every whiner on a PSO related messageboard there's five more people online that are enjoying the game. Don't let them get to you!

PSO is a great game and you will enjoy it if you go online, I will admit that no keyboard does lessen the experience but it's definitly worth it still without one.

And yes, your friend will be able to play with you Online as long as s/he has a US version or JP 1.1 version of the game.

Yes, I really wish I had an XBOX...well... kind of. Games like HALO always caught my eye! >_> The whole voice communication seems so neat too. I cannot spend all that money though so I am stuck... :

Thanks a lot for your opinions though now I'm even more split on it.

Also... the PAL version of PSO will be out soon. Does that allow online play with America? >_<

Again, thank you all very much. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I'm pretty sure it will. I haven't heard anything about different servers & don't see why it would be needed.

I have a lot of fun playing online but I already have a group of people I play with. If you're wandering from ship to ship you're more likely to run into idiots. You'll probably find some friends at the same time though.

I'd say you will have to jump online and find out for yourself. I've played with literally hundreds of people over several months (well since november) and I honestly can't point to an experience that has soured me on the game. People are helpful and almost without exception will go out of their way to help you out. PSO in some ways can make you feel better about people in general. Though it's funny how we'll bend over backwards to help a low-level HUmar but won't cross the street to give a quarter to a bum...but I digress: If you were only asking me, I'd say you do yourself a dis-service by NOT trying the online experience. It adds alot to the game and the people you meet will, by and large, treat you well and assist your characters' development. We were all there once, dude! And by the way, no KB has not affected me personally. You'll learn to type fast with the tools provided.

I think it's well worth it. I have had very few unpleasent experiences on PSO and you can make some friends too. As for the keyboard I can't say, it would be VERY helpfull (especially when all you are doing is hanging around in the lobby) but it is very expensive as well.
