Call me simple minded and Im sure there is some damage forumla aspect to solve this but...

Wouldnt it make sense that its better to use HP mats instead of Def mats (2 pts > 1 pt)?

Haha, I suppose it depends on the character. There wouldn't be much points boosting your HP by a lot when you take loads of damage from every hit... A formula could help solve that, but generally if you're looking to make a good defensive character, you should balance between the two, giving it both HP and defense mats.

+5 def = take 1 less damage / hit

+10 hp = you have 10 more max hp

All up to you

e: if you lack survivability from a single hard hit by enemy/boss, +HP is better than +def
