Congratulations. I can't say much about uncle-ship, but I can say that parenthood is a worldview-altering experience.

Of course, as an uncle, you've got the easy part-- hold him at family get-togethers, and if there is a tactile and audible blast in his diaper, you just hand him off to his parents. Easy, easy, easy.

My niece looks just like me when I was younger.
I look more like my uncle than, and almost nothing like my mom.

Just think of how awesome it is to be an uncle.
Half the time, the kid likes you more than the parents.
When they get older, if you're the type of guy that like younger(but of age) women, then you can throw parties at your house for your niece or (but most likely for)nephew.
