I would love a melee weapon that can function like ranged weapon PAs where you generate the elemental % from the PA itself and not the weapon...same for Techs...where you can slot one Elemental Percentage PA...to sacrifice one spot on the rod or wand...to generate a percentage and support a tech with the added percentage and have the PA grow based on how the other ones are used.

I know this is kind of lame but how about a Javelin spear for fighters, a wrist mounted device would make a Javelin out of pure photons and depending on you level would be the distance it would go and how many enemies it would penetrate (kind of like a laser cannon for fighters).

A grappling hook. So you could latch onto monsters and pull them together for the kill. It could also be used on bosses. Imagine grappling the tail then going along for the ride slashing with a whip or sword.

Photon Glasses. With enemies as weak as they are in psu, with photon glasses we could actually kill by just staring at them. o:

Now a bit more seriously, can't think of many new weapons that could be added to psu. Maybe something like pso partizans?

Had a random thought somewhat related to this topic, wouldn't be possible in psu though, at least without an expansion (heh...it wouldn't happen even with an expansion :>), but could result in having at least twice the ammount of options to attack, having an option to change the attack animation of each weapon (some high rank weapons could also have unique options compared to low rank ones?)...It would be something like this:
- Photon Shape Manipulation, manipulating the shape of a melee weapon photon blade (example, being able to change the shape of a dagger blade to be like a knife, like the one Hiru Vol had on ep1 of the story), changing the animation of normal attacks and PAs (some could be faster but weaker attacks, others could be slower but stronger).
- Photon Property Manipulation, manipulating a ranged or technic weapon attack, like...making an handgun fire 3 bullets in a row (kinda like pso mechguns), or making rafoie into like 3 smaller rafoies to cover a bigger range for less damage.

PSO Style Partisans. I first equipped a pike thinking "Oh yay! Time to go SLICE enemies in half!" I was sadly disappointed with all the stabby-ness. I loved partisans in PSO. ;w;

Anyway, what I would have is grieves! Or boots! Rather than lamo punches, we'd have awesome kicking specialist. I'm more of a kicker than I am a puncher.

I expect westerners to be lame crappers and only do boxing, but I expect more from the Japanese and to have them embrace the beauty and grace of radical kicking.

They have all my favorite weapons, knives, claws, scythe (sort of, it's an axe), and bows. They just need kicking specialist.

Okay, I gave this some thought and I came up with a weapon that would function strategically different than any other weapon already in the game.

A boomerang. It could be a medium range, one handed throwing weapon that, if thrown at the right distance, could hit an enemy twice in one throw. (coming and going) You could also move around and even attack with your other hand while it is still in the air. Imagine throwing the boomerang at a mob of enemies in the distance while attacking the closer enemies with your dagger or saber, and also having the boomerang land an extra hit on any enemy it travels through, including the ones you are attacking at close range when it comes back.

Also, it could have a very useful PA. One that would make the boomerang circle your body for a few seconds and knock down any enemies that get to close to you. You could use this with a tech weapon to protect you while casting or just to add extra damage to your close range melee attacks.

Another cool PA could involve something like throwing out multiple boomerangs at once, or one that makes the boomerang hover and spin in one spot for a few seconds doing multiple hits.

One of the S rank versions could be called "Boomarang" and make Booma noises when used, haha. And after typing this I realize that it's basically like the cross in various Castlevania games, but they already have a whip in PSU, so why not?

I think being able to run around in maybe four or five missions playing as our partner machine would be cool. Photon charges and healing items would apply. No leveling or photon art advancement would be allowed. It would be a partner machine only mission. There could be up to four PM in a mission.

I'd like the idea of a mobility based weapon type. Something like combat support machines that are used as airboards.
GRM ACSMs could be airboards. Yohmei ACSMs could be brooms. Tenora ACSMs could be carpets.

Twin mechguns - it was in PSO, so why not in PSU?

Twin crossbows - 3 bullets x 2, total of 6 bullets combined with sidestepping would give GT a new edge.

A photon shield(single hand) - mainly for fighters but could be used by all classes, epuipped on one arm and activated when attack button is pressed, it can block enemy attacks or absorb considerable amount of damage(up to 50%) from the same elemental attacks.

Wow I love the boomerang idea!

I would like to have combat strafing for techs (and guns) how devastating would Regrants(or Dam techs) be if you could move about while casting it! Also(and yes I've said this before) an SUV that transforms my cast into an artillery cannon letting me manual blast targets for a set time.

you know there are many ideas tht would be good and its good to put these ideas on a forum to discuss them i like the idea of new weapons on psu sinc e we havnt got any in quite awhile but as a artist i draw many weapons from blades to hammers and axes if you give me an idea i would be more then glad to draw it for you and see what you think of it P.S might take a week depending on what you want^^

Before adding in new stuff, I'd give a slight overhaul to the battle system; the earlier idea of a single knuckle fits that bill quite well.
The overhaul would work as such : You could equip any single-handed weapon to any hand. Meaning, you could easily wield a handgun with your character's right hand instead of the usual left... Two of the same would result in the expected Twin variant, with its own unique Twin-only PAs.
The point?
Having, say, both a Saber and a Dagger out at the same time. Or handgun and Mechgun. It'd introduce Twin Mechguns, Twin Slicers... It'd be pretty cool.

Now if I were to add in a new weapon type, it would be a Flying Saber. Weaker than the usual saber, its normal attacks would however home in on enemies up to a certain (short-ish) reach, after which it just attacks an area in front of the user. PAs would focus on quick, repeated long-range attacks.
Another would be the Small Axe. Those would basically be the one-handed equivalent to the two-handed melee weapons' axes, like what Sabers are to Swords. Alongside this would come Twin Small Axes.

So far to everyone nice idea`s, But don`t you think some of the skills can be new PA`s or even some of the weapon`s idea`s here be existing weapon type`s. I do agree that use the rest on the single type weapon`s to make there twin counterparts is good and mixing up the single melee,range,tech weapon`s is a plus. nunchuck sound cool but I think it may fall into either twin sabers or twin whips type weapon`s. the shield is a must for def. but not much of new weapon. The grappling hook idea can made into a whip PA skill and lot of other can too. The old Partisans where cool and would love too see them again but Sega them with the soul eater scythe type`s in a Sword type. I think the boomerang idea is sound and can fit into a flying saber idea, but I think it needs to be a techer weapon since there are not alot of them or at least uses the chacter TP base then add it`s Atp attack power to that TP base so then everyone can use it but give techer`s more power with it. Then maybe have the boomerang go around three times before going back to the user, that and have a pp sucking ability with it`s normal attack that can restore both the right and left hands. then it`s PA`s can be elemental with a magic look... like the flaming sword in the bible lol:). I like the riding airboard, striker, floader, Lunga..... anything esle. be cool to see real animals in pm form like Hawks,wolfs,bears...etc or even a pet monster hehehe a hidlebear kicking butt out of the seed FTW o.o:).

I want a person's PA.

You can grab your NPC or friend and throw them like a weapon. Other PA's would be different acrobatic moves. Mario RPG did it on the Super Nintendo, Koopa would grab Mario and throw it at his foes.

Twin Mechs like on PSO, right? but the fire mechanism would be the standard PSU, so you can move around and spray bullets from two mechs at once

Assault Rifle, with Burst fire or Auto fire. These would look similar to the current rifles in PSU, and like the rifle it will NOT allow you to move while you fire, a fair compromise since this weapon would be considerably more powerful than the standard mech gun.

That would be cool as shit. imagine One-Hand wielding the Agito Replica. Then people can really pretend to be Sephiroth. An idea for Fortetechers/Masterforces would be Dual Madoogs, or at least a Madoog Type that use both hands instead of one. it'd basically be like having a Rod, except you'd just Alternate between hands. Or, instead of linking 2 Technics to each hand, you'd just link 2 technics to both, and have Dual-Madoogs be like the speed of Madoogs with the Power of rods, except focusing only on 2 technics. To add some real flare to the casting, animation should be different depending on which technic. (Like thrusting arms forward for Basics, and thrusting them outward for Gi spells. That would look so cool)

For Gunmasters/Fortegunners, you could have Sniper Rifles/Railgun. Since Rifles themselves already have pretty decent range on them, Sniper Rifles/Railguns would be all about power over speed. When you attack, your character would kneel down first and then shoot, taking about 2 seconds to fire and 2 seconds of cooldown. However, the damage would be massive, and anything hit would be knocked over. (For PSP2 gameplay, the chargeshot would be a giant shot with a huge shockwave that pierces enemies.) The point of this weapon would be that you're extremely vulnerable while attacking, but whatever you're hitting would die in about 2-3 consecutive shots. It'd mostly be useful in party missions to pick off the stronger ones, or for rooms where the enemies appear far away you can kill them before they ever get close. Chargeshot would be a Boss Killer. Getting hit while in the animation interrupts it, and you take 1.5x damage as well.

Traps that work like mines, explode when enemies make contact.

A deployable sentry gun. Imagine deploying a sentry to shoot at the enemies and then running behind them and shooting at them with a shotgun. Although this wouldnt work because when u switched guns it would make the sentry go away making this pointless -_- lol

Mind control device! select an enemy to control! While your character stays stationary controll an enemy to attack their own :O

A rifle bullet that has a slight chance at transforming your enemies into different enemies! :O See a polty change to a vanda before your very eyes! lol or a pannon into a gol dova! lol XD

idk how a glitch would work, you'd be perfectly still, probably cant open or do anything while its going and u have to wait for it to start up... idk what you could possibly do to make it glitch lol :P

It may be a bit antiquated, but the only real example I can think of is Cupil from Skies of Arcadia. Haha, man I loved that game.

Similar to an SUV or Beast Mode

-Newman's should be able to charge up a meter and use a "super spell" like a a giant razonde or something that makes it rain 50 megids over enemies

-Humans should be able to call in a predator missile like in Modern Warefare 2. You would see it from an overhead satellite view and could remotely fly the missile into whatever enemy or group of enemies you like.

Photon Nunchuk(u)s. Like holding the colored photon barrels for guns with all kinds of fun looks like triple chained ends and so on(Meteor Cudgel? Sting Tip?) when they get crazy. Lavis style if they want to do that too.

Goofy style Kubaracs are the (Twin) bananas, so Banana my man Ann can finally wield something greater than his PSO Ep 2(?) Challenge mode user name entry prize DONKEY PUNCH +200(or 30 50 or 100 whatever it was)

Now bring on the flaming. Someone got mad at it being another HUnter type weapon last time I brought it up in PSZ forums. Suckas. :etongue:

Ohh ideas hmm...

Advance unarmed combat, something that makes it stand out more then Knuckles.
Alot of combos and hits typical.

Homing missiles, kinda like rifle but much weaker since i thought a barrage of missiles is more interesting also it should get knockdown. :P
Better for small fries. It relies on small numbers to do damage.

Rocket Launcher, if not idea above then this to compete with rifle.
It would be like a weaker Grenade Launcher, but you can aim like a rifle and hit 2-3 hit zones. Although for sure, con would be knock-away effect.
Bigger targets would be pwned. Pretty slow though.

Flame Thrower, nothing like burning enemy to a crisp.
You have to be pretty close to hits in. But it would be stronger then the mechgun.

Minigun, this would compete with mechgun. Get longer ranger and more power.
But you waste ammo FAST and you are completely immobile while shooting.
Good for stunlocking like rifle and will exterminate big targets fast.

How about instead of that, a melee mag that hits enemies from far away...like using the force! So as you keep tapping the X button from lets say at about a slicer's range, the enemy you are targeting is getting the crud beat out of him without you having to ever get within a foot of him.

Twin whips would be pretty sweet like whiplash from Iron Man.
A two-handed force weapon that has a faster cating rate. Maybe a scroll or ritual book. I know they're making a weapon that looks like a book but it's just not the same as if it were 2 handed.
3-quarter staff = win.
Chinese hook swords.
A polearm type weapon (for slicing...not stabbing....stupid spear -.-)
And just for poops and giggles...

2-handed or one handed random melee weapons and random ranged weapons. There should be a set fighting style and movement/action for both. Probably blunt weapon style and movement and for the ranged weapon a throwing movement.
My idea's for the random 2 handed weapon remind me of that classic simpson's arcade game: Skateboard/airboard, saxaphone, vacuum cleaner, baseball bat, hockey stick, guitar, barbell, bench, small tree, fan, pillow, random noob in a rappy suit (<.<), broom/mop, etc.
1 handed random weapon: Rubber chicken, telephone, Sonic/Tails plushie, drink bottle, plunger, joystick controller, dumbell, book, twig/stick, etc.
2 handed ranged random weapon: TV or computer monitor, large stuffed animal, random noob in a rappy suit (>.>), briefcase, chair, box fan, large rock, etc.
1 handed ranged random weapon: small rock, game controller (angry gamer XD), Sonic/Tails plushie, bar of soap, throwing knives, can of soda, etc.

Just make it as random as possible. I'm sure people will get a kick out of the kinds of weapons they can come up with lmao.

A specific weapon? The Sonic Knuckle from PSO; I miss my old Sonic-inspired gear :*(

If you're talking about a weapon *TYPE*, however... I would say a "Quick-draw Style" Katana. Imagine Vergil from DMC3 (it's based on a real martial art, I can't think of the name atm), where the katana remains sheathed at all times, except when actually *slicing*.

Boots that let you travel faster, and maybe little wings coming out of them, with PA moves like those kicking specialists from those fighting games.
