That aside, mach 24 would be pointless anyway. Too much resistance when speeding like that, plus you'd need an awfully long distance to stop.

And if you have technology to pull of something like that, then it's better to invest in teleports.
And Tesla's Death Ray can supposedly hit any point on Earth, anyway.
