Modem Connection Question

Ok I am on 56 and have a modem(that might be answe in its self LOL) but sometimes I have to connect 2 or 3 times just to get on, and sometimes its just disconnects me out of the blue!! anyone know what the problem is?

What ISP are you using? That might be the case.

Bad ISP, maybe people in your home are picking up the phone, maybe you have call waiting. Incoming calls usually disconnect computers when there is call waiting, however, there is usually a prefix you can dial to temporaily disable it.

Yea, if you have call waiting that can cause you problems. I had to worry about that on my DC version. Anyways I believe, if I recall right, it's *70 to disable it.
