It's because of the original Gundam masked man, Char Aznable (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/08/Char_Aznable.jpg). Char is the single most popular character in Gundam history. For that reason, they keep referencing him in other series - Rau Le Creuset from SEED, Mr. Bushido from 00, Zechs Merquise from Wing, and Full Frontal from Unicorn, for example. The difference here is that Full Frontal has a canon link to Char Aznable, since they're from the same continuity; I'd go into it more, but I don't plan on spoiling part of the plot of Unicorn. All the other masked men are just empty fanservice and references to pull in fans of other Gundam series.

That and I'm a Gundam elitist. I hate pretty much anything outside of the Universal Century continuity, with rare exceptions: After War Gundam X, Turn A Gundam, and the first season of Gundam 00. G Gundam is acceptable merely because of the sheer amount of lulz and stupidity it brought, but by no means do I like it. So that's why I said before that the "Gundam madman" in me wants to yell at you - referencing Zechs Merquise when you clearly should have mentioned Char Aznable is borderline insulting. Ignorance of Gundam series is no excuse. ;<

That's kind of the point.

I've only seen Gundam Wing and a few episodes of random other ones, so I wouldn't have known. I used to watch Wing when I was in elementary school o-o I still have the video casettes xD

I always liked the Taurus suits. They were different from most of the other suits from Wing.

(Sidenote: 08th MS Team is by far my favorite Gundam series to date.)
