So the GENERAL consensus is Eternal Tower isn't difficult to do, it just challenges your sanity...

so what do you do to make ET bearable?
Put music on?
watch tv?
Do the run whilst visiting the zoo?
Take a shot of vodka every 5 floors?
Take a shot of vodka every 5 floors whilst visiting said zoo?

lets enlighten each other as a... community

I watch DVDs. Listen to the Dissidia soundtrack. Put my DS in standby after every floor and don't open it until I've written a paragraph (which actually works really, really well). Channel surf. You know. A little of everything.

Have 3 NPCs. They do alot of work for you if you're level 90+ Ogi is the worst to have, BTW.
I get 10 floors done in half an hour like that...

I normally play while watching TV, during commercials.

I always put my ds to mute when I'm playing ET,I sometimes listen to music as well.

i find its a really good time to go through all those bands your friends think you'll like and all those anime's etc. your friends recommend you

And sitting down with some alone time watching porn TV is another good addition

I do ten floors at a time. I usually go without NPC's, so I can work on my shortcuts when I get tired of killing stuff. I found that playing the game on the original DS doesn't hurt my thumbs as much, and it leaves me open to do wifi pokemon battles on my DS lite.

Play a bit like maybe 10-20 floors a night.

You can always hit the burn traps that the NPCs are standing by and laugh at getting revenge for all the times they did that to you :O3 .

I eat, put on food network, turn down the music (till floor 90), and sit down and do the whole tower in 4hrs. it take me only 2 and a half hours to do the first 70 floors and then another hour and half for the last 31. i dont return after a mother till around floor 40, then till about 70 then 90. i only return to sell, store, and buy fluids to spam more earth bullets. I figured every time you return to town you spend 5 mins easy resocking and selling and what not, so i esentially cut out 35mins of tower. I also only pick up red boxes too to save space.

I scamper through 20 floors (stopping to fight the hostiles only when the exit is closed) then close my DSi and take a half hour break or leave it closed while I sleep if its late.

I don't go through it in one sitting.

Play an Eternal Tower extermination run (no skipping rooms) through one sitting your first time around (Hard mode at least). That'll make you appreciate breaks more.

I do 10-20 floors and put the DS down. Browse the net, watch anime, eat, et cetera or play while watching/listening to TV.

I do 30 to 40 floors a day when I'm in the tower. I like paying my DS a lot and if I can't this game out I have to pay it. Taking it to the zoo sounds kinda fun, sorta

I pretty much can do the tower within the day (don't ask me how I do it) but I normally plan out when I start doing it (e.g. like weekend morning). On the lower floors (1-40) I just watch stuff on youtube or listen to music. After floor 40 I tend to focus more on the game due to the hostile getting stronger. Mind you I do take breaks for toliet, having lunch or dinner or start watching a show.

Took me 1 week to do my first SH ET run. (lol shet)

First, I didn't know you couldn't quit. Thought you could save, exit, and then come right back. So my first time, around floor 60ish, I did that. (though this was on Hard, not Super Hard).

Then when I did SH, I just did about 20 floors a day. I got bored really, really fast.

King_Yoshi42
Mar 4, 2010, 09:59 AM
Yeah, it also takes me excceingly long. I'll do 10 floors and take a break (which can be alot of time)

Jonzales
Mar 4, 2010, 11:48 AM
yea taking breaks seem quite logical, i find sitting outside is really nice i went to hyde park in london the other day when it was sunny and it made the whle thing much more cheery :D

im thinking of maybe doing a ET run with loads of people in chat over skype... with that bottle of vodka... anyone interested

I listen to music, put on a DVD and take frequent breaks. I take a lot of breaks.

I also never try to complete in one go - it's easier to play up 'till floor 50, then finish the remaining floors the following day.

I have to do them in small doses or I'll go nuts.
Usually 10-20 floors a night with music on. It'll usually take me a whole week to complete. Whenever I tried to beat it quicker, I just got sick of the game.

I wish I could play around with pictochat during ET runs, but I think it's turned off when you're on a mission.

Dammit. So it's either keep myself sane by drawing during ET runs, but no npc's.
Or bring along the meat shields on ET runs and finish a room a bit quicker.

Thanks for the info wolf.

I started a Super Hard tower on one of my cartridges about 4 days ago, and I'm still not done.
(Thanks to my friend for letting me use his DS Lite, so I can still trade and everyone their prizes from my contest and whatnot).

I'll probably be done tonight though, because last I played I got to floor 85 ish.

I think the biggest piece of helpful information, in doing the Eternal Tower, is knowing to look for rooms in which you don't have to fight enemies to pass. Seems to take a significant chunk of time out of the whole run. The only bad thing is that you could possibly miss out on that rare drop.

Like the odd Femini Soul, I got in Hard Tower, within the first 10 levels of play. Hardly got anything like that in the rest of the entire run.

Volcompat321
Mar 4, 2010, 03:12 PM
You know...I don't know if I've ever skipped any rooms.
Not sure if I didn't notice the ones you can, or I just didn't want to.

I think I'd rather have a chance at the rares, than to possibly miss out on something awesome, just because I wanted to save some time.

ok so i just finished my first SH run of ET and my HOLY SWEET JESUS it's so much longer... i also didnt revert to the vodka option and got a sweet keplar suit from heavens mother who was surprisingly easy =/ any one else get that? i had more trouble from a pair of arkenziens

Paired arkzeins on lvl 90+ are by far the hardest enemy in the tower. The mothers are rarely that tough, though they are exceptionally weak to force spamming lightning.

i completed the tower in normal and hard in 4-6 hours(didn't take any break).
the tower in super hard will take much more time. ^^

the eternal tower shoul've been local multiplayer exclusive, because the npc comrades are annoying me with their weakness.

I have only completed the tower thrice so far (one for each difficulty level). The first two times I really did not do anything special aside from taking breaks and going 10 or 25 floors at a time. The third time since I was on SH the tower was a lot more taxing for me. I tried the music strategy and it seemed to work alright.

I've only done the Normal and Hard ETs so far (trying to level up at least 1-4 more times before doing the SH run with my HUnewm).

For the Normal run I only did about 50 floors from about 3pm-9pm (because of breaks every 10 floors), and the next morning I finished it until noon. I listened to my iPod which was in shuffle.

For the Hard run I did the about the same thing except I took several days for it. I started in a night, got to about floor 20, went to sleep, went to school, did a couple of more floors, went to sleep, school, and finished it the third day.

But I'd say music is my way to pass the time in ET :3 I usually do it with Sarisa, Kai, and either Ogi or Reve (depending on who I feel like bringing). I also draw random things so that I don't get bored on the Pictochat-like-drawing-board-thing and text people.

I completed the ET on Hard today, all in a single sitting.
Took me 5 hours. (14:30 - 19:30).
Thanks God for eventless Sunday afternoons. That was boring, but now I can finally level up my Hunter in a decent way even when I can't play online.

I really want to know why game designers think 100+ floors, 5+ hours long dungeons filled with creatures from the whole game are supposed to be challenging. Because they're not. :(

Mar 8, 2010, 11:07 AM
My first run I did straight through while half watching/listening to old action movies on TV. Took about 6 hours.

Second run I stretched out through an entire Sunday. Took 14 hours total, but I was online while I was playing. Normal floors I'd clear a room then check a message board post here or somewhere else. After each Mother I'd close my DS, plug it into the charger, and take a short break to do something else.

I would love to be able to break things up and do 10-20 floors a night, but I can't tie up my DS for a week just for a tower run.

yea tho the mothers suck it to burn traps like 400+ chip damage? that's pretty Ridick, well im still am gunning for that skype ET drinking game meet, yea it's good to catch up on old movies like i watched ace ventura whilst doing part of the tower the other day something comedical to keep spirits up :D

i play it late at night, playing until i am so tired i have to put it down, then close the ds, plug it in, (wash, rinse,) repeat

I'd try that, but playing when I'm almost falling asleep is usually when I run into a pair of arkzeins and I'm dead before my brain registers that I have missles to avoid.

Rule one ALWAYS take breaks. Rule two ALWAYS take it in moderation. or do RULE THREE, don't do it and for get about the rares. they're not worth the time and insanity to get them. i mean it.

I either do one of two things:

1)Do 10 floors at a time, with a long break in between (this last one i did took 8 days =D)

2)Do 30-40 floors at a time, then play wow/bb for an hour then do another 30-40 floors :p

Both work for me, although never do the tower whilest tired... i woke up one morning to see my ds on the floor (dropped) my huneweral dead and it crashed :/

It's only worth doing if you want a shot at the normal only ET rares (I think there's ET normal rares atleast) or if you want the +5 inventory slots that you get for doing it on Normal.

Why learn how to be sane when its so much more fun to be crazy.
of course then your ds runs out of battery or glitches and you start again. that just makes it more fun!!! I hate my life sob sob

Bah it all a matter of risk you time over it or not. No offence to those who take days to complete it but I CAN complete it within the day meaning I take in the boredom and madness (I plan out when to do ET and yes I do take breaks). Doing it for the first time in SH is a must if you want the remaining inventory space but by all mean level up to a suitable level to handle it (you don't want to be a level 60 and then enter only to get your butt kick so many times). The rares are somewhat easier to obtain in ET but this is down to luck since there are times you get nothing out from it but again this is just down to risking your time on it. The only time when ET is not worth doing is when you have reach 100 since after that level there little benefits from doing it again (pervious ET run will benefit you level up if you get no good drops but this is a bad thing).
