Seeing as we won't really be getting any more of these...
What do YOU think is/was the hardest mission in the game?
And that is, to actually do WELL in, not just muddle through it with a bad grade and tons of deaths. It could be hard for good reasons OR bad ones, it doesn't matter. Team or solo, story or regular. It could be hard because it was a real challenge, or simply because it's cheap and lame, or because it's dumping on your chosen class.
I nominate:
Magashi Plan-
Hard for all the right reasons. Devilishly clever traps & tricks throughout. Monster pairings that are truly challenging to any class without cheaping one out. How will you defeat the carriguine across the hall? What about the little wall in the Barfal Bragga room? It took me several tries to get through this, but each time you'd see something to do better on if you died. Lacked cheap deaths most of the time as well. Even after beating it, it was cool to keep going back as it dispensed rares, EXP and excitement.
Brighter Day 2-
This one is hard for all the WRONG reasons. The dialogue says 'dont hurry' but then it's timed. They throw in monsters who love to attack the clock, and not you, wasting your time more than anything else. Gaozoran vanishes! Appears at edge of own range forcing itself to respawn! DPS doesn't mean anything if the guy won't even show.
Two words: Escort Mission (Karen can't die)
Anti-helpful NPCs who you have to babysit decrease the fun while upping the difficulty (stand infront of megid turret while fiddling with their weps)
The second half of this!
Where the hfil did that difficulty come from? If you can't defeat a 20,000x normal HP carriguine, two more spawn within seconds guarenteeing to murder Karen. NOTHING else in all of story was ever this hard...nor even any other mission I found. It makes Fakis/Falz & any other boss look like a push-over/anti-climactic junkpile.
Also Possible-
Lightening festival bonus missions that were done room by room with each one getting harder. Can't judge too well here because getting a good team to do it zillions of times would make a difference in the precieved difficulty.
So what's your opinion? What's hardest and why?
