This man is a threat to "our" Nation! If he continues on like this our freedoms will eventually evaporate into a Socialist nightmare. I don't give a fuck what they try to tell us... I truly wish death upon this piece of trash, and will have no remorse for I hope my wish will be granted

isn't it amazing how some people feel the need to say they want to kill the president because they don't agree with him? man, I am so glad I don't live in a country like that : D

So... apparently enacting something that exists in every other developed nation is socialism. (And what got passed is far short of a government system... such as Canada, Europe, etc.)

Well, I suppose that, technically universal government healthcare is socialism. But then, so is welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, and basically every other government safety net. I don't see anyone ranting and raving about those. Besides, its not even a government-run healthcare plan (Besides expanding existing ones).

Okay, two things:

1.) What do you think socialist means?

2.) How will the recent healthcare reform cause this? Be very specific, if you don't mind.

The fundamental problem is that our nation is already several trillion dollars in debt, and our Democratic party is taking us down the precise same route that took Argentina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentina#Economy) down from being one of the 10 wealthiest nations on Earth, to the economic disaster it's been since the 1930's. The modern American Democratic party has the arrogance to think that things won't go that route, simply because they are the people implementing it.

We had an economic crisis when he came into office, and so far everything he's done has only made it worse. This means he's either completely incompetent, or he's doing it on purpose.

Chill out, dude. Vote out the incumbents come November. His administration's ability to screw us up will be severely hindered when he no longer has support from people in office.

Wait... so... the economy isn't recovering?

Though no consensus exists explaining this, systemic problems have included increasingly burdensome debt, uncertainty over the monetary system, excessive regulation, barriers to free trade, and a weak rule of law coupled with corruption and a bloated bureaucracy.

Nope, nothing in there about health care. Also... G-20 means economic disaster?

I'm worried about my sarcasm detector. It's struggling to reconcile serious poster, FKL, and seemingly illogical statements.

I'm not going to have a political argument in FKL. I'll advise you to consult Google on how our unemployment numbers have been looking since Obama has taken office, and that's the last comment I will make on the matter.

I can't help but get the feeling the OP started this thread because he was quoting Stephen Colbert. Was that it? This sounds like something he'd say. I'm not suppoised to take any of this seriously, am I?

Quick look... data ends at June '09, which is too soon to say much. Right now... you could judge Obama's performance through last July or so based on today's unemployment rate. (It lags several months behind the economy as a whole, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_Indicators

Frankly, its just too soon to judge what kind of effect Obama has had on the economy. Further, saying that he helped or hurt it is just going to be speculation, since there's no control economy where he didn't do anything. The economy is not particularly predictable, and its not entirely rational either. (No more rational than the humans who drive it, anyways)

I didn't even vote in the presidential race in '08, because I didn't like either candidate. I'm in a wait-and-see mode at the moment.

In any case, if you want to have a debate, present actual evidence (Don't say "google it", link to an actual page with numbers), and make sure it agrees with what you're saying (The Argentina article did not support the assertion of universal health care leading to a failed economy. Government policy is barely even mentioned in the article)

It remains to be seen if it will make anything worse, the whole bloody world is in debt.

But people forget that in the 1930s FDR did some geniunely shady shit to try to pull the US out of debt during the great depression and eventually that combined with the war build up did pull the country out and made it unquestionably dominant.

I didn't want to go back to the 1990's maps. :(

Imagine going to rub your eye with your left hand and realizing you just pulped the damn thing 'cause there's a spiked ball on the end of your arm. Starting in 2014, the government will mandate that all citizens get left-handed mace attachments.

HAYABUSA-FMW-
Mar 25, 2010, 03:13 AM
Suits, for both men and women, will then accommodate spiked shoulder attachments, that just won't come off, ever!
