Is the 3rd box on the right hand side of your options screen ticked? I know that if this is unticked, it will give Free course players an error 61.

It doesn't really matter too much. Just choose 1, most people go there.

Just to clarify...the one or two is like chosing a memory card. You can store 4 characters on each for a total of 8!!

It does not change gameplay in any way...other than some exceptions for transferring items, which I know nothing about.
