I don't know about the fullscreen thing but You can use a wired Xbox 360 controller or any usb controller for that matter and use a program call Xpadder or JoyToKey(I think there are more) to map the keyboard inputs for PSU

I will attest that while the Xbox controller for the PC is very nice there is one big problem which may not have a solution.

The Z Triggers cannot be used with PSU so you will be short two buttons. If there is a solution to that problem I would like to know...'cause I haven't a clue :(

There is a solution for the wireless one, its a bit odd but it works (I don't know if it works with the wired one): http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140876&highlight=xbox+360+controller - the last post on this link

JoyToKey allows you to set any button into a keyboard key, which includes turning any button into an auto fire button. For the Z Triggers, just remember to click "Use Axes other than X and Y" in the "Others" tab and then set the keys you wish for "Axis 3 >0 / <0"
