do you create with a back story firmly in hand?

when i created raven5.1 on the original pso i already had certain facts in mind, facts like:

she was a novice sniper/assasin training to be the best to gain entrance into the d.e.f a fiction elite android faction operating on pioneer 2 my brother whose main char was scourge a d.e.f commander and hardly ever played a game where he wasnt the leader.

so what about the rest of you?

Well I made a tall skinny HUcast and named it EVA:UNIT-04, and a red suited blue haired RAmarl named Misato-, and a grey/purple haired short little FOnewm named Kaworu* does that count ?

when i get bored and have nothing else to do and when i am grounded from pso, i make up stories involving my characters so that adds into their story lines. Its pretty neat =D

pedifile i don't think i would mind much, anyways i make Story lines for all my characters i was trying to get into PSO RPing so i could maybe make a Fan fic for here but i have no Keyboard so it's WAY too much work to act out every battle/scene though you guys seem pretty cool why not be the first to go RPing for PSOW (no i guess we aren't the first but who cares)

at the dreamcast, i first decided for a class, then i played around (up to an hour) until i could identify with what i look at.
with the time, i tended to roleplay and my 3 main chara got their own personality.

for cube i already set a personality pattern for every planned chara i'll use... the difference is minimal (short cuts and symbols are slightly different) but only my revived charas will have a real history behind them...

My original characters purpose when I created her was to shed some kind of light in the face of any adversity in the world of PSO. With all the cheating going, this was very much realized. Starting a clan out to help any victim of stealing/pk'ing, we got up to 40 members, though we all dispersed later on. Then I joined another clan with her which got up to 60 members, and many people were restored from various ck incidents *sigh*

Warrior of Despair would be the nick name I gave my character. Cause no matter where I went with that character, some horrible shit was going on. The story of my HUnewearl is far to long to type in one post...

The current character I'm using now, I have just one story line for her.

I made a 2 page backround story for my Character Ceyx not too long ago. I was doing it for my MBI profile on AIM so people could have something to read and me something to work on when I get bored. All I did with the story was basically take my life story and edited it to make it sound like a pso story, for example...

Parents divorced when I was at age 6, I wanted to become just like my dad everytime I saw him, so I grew my hair out.

Now, for the PSO version, it would be like:

Parents divorced when I was 6. I admired my dad's work as a Hunter on Ragol so I wanted to become just like him....a Hunter. Even though I was weak, there was a class out for me, and that was the force class.

It's sort of like that, but I had to do this post in a hurry. *bathroom calls*

This has already been going on in Offtopic. But there hasn't been any RPing going on in there lately. There was a lot of RPing when PSO v2 came out for DC.

Well I've written *most* of a fanfic about my characters, although I haven't added to it in quite some time now. Usually though, when I create a new character I try to think of how they would fit into a story, or more specifically, my fic. I try to think about things like "this could be this character, just later on" or stuff like that. It makes me more willing to level up a character, I think, if they play an important role in my fic.

Celesta was Flint's longtime friend and later lover. She mourns Flint's death to this day, but now that she's become a force, hoping the action would drown out the misery, she has begun to feel a bit of satisfaction in life. Her personality is shy but benevolent.

Crysta was the childhood friend of Celesta. They both parted and went their separate ways after a large fight over Flint. Crysta never forgave Celesta, and years later exacted her revenge in a most appalling way. Her personality is determined and arrogant.

The J2AX-0012-ODIN model, aka "Odin", being very proficient with projectile weapons, is one of the most skilled assassins on the Pioneer 2. His small and stocky size does not detract from his skill in stealth or marksmanship. Instead, it seems to increase his ego tenfold. Or perhaps it was just his creator.

Several android and bio-electronics specialists have banded together in what is the most difficult experiment they have ever performed to date. They attempted to take the brain of a dying man and install it in an android's body. The result is Fenrir I, in which the spirit of Flint lives on, bent on revenge.

Why yes actually! Diem Nights(tone, his full name is Diem Nightstone), actuall has a very long story behind him, but suffice to say, he's no ordinary HUmar, he's a legendary treasure hunter! Or trying to reach that point anyway. As for my FOmar, Ikkaron, he's an angel (which is why I was so desperate to get angel wings). He's come to help keep the balance on the planet, and defeat the overwhelming darkness that has corrupted it (Falz and the genetic experiments, as well as Olga Flow). Usually it's not a while backstory, it's just a little info on a character. For example, my HUmar is one of those guys that would sell their soul for power. I haven't made a whole backstory for him, I just make up what their character is.

To me, the creation of a character is all about that: I think of a story, then a character that blinds in perfectly with my fiction. When Ultimate was created I didn't think like this, but my next character will probably have lots of story around him.

I usually give them a vague back story and then create 'em. In time, through playing or writing, they'll grow into their own definite personality, and it's only after a few months that I get the final version of the character's story down.

The first character for PSO version 1 I had no story. While playing I began getting ideas and that's when I made my second character with a good idea of thier background and such. Now my all my characters are a part of the same story, which I've been posting(shamelss plug I know). I don't RP while playing the game, I just play the game to have fun.
