View Full Version : Game Tact Plays: Humans Versus Zombies

This week, my campus will have a zombie apocalypse. I will be taking part as an unfortunate human caught in the mess. The humans have Nerf guns and can shoot zombies to stun them. If a zombie tags a human, they become a zombie.

I will be using this thread to chronicle my adventures as a human (and maybe as a zombie) throughout the week.

My weapon of choice: The Nerf Recon CS-6, a clip-loading pistol with a bunch of attachments. (All are shown, though I won't be using any during the day.)

[/spoiler-box]

And my sidearm, the Nerf SS-1 Secret Shot. This air-powered, Derringer-style gun is a last resort if I run out of other ammunition and need to defend myself.

The game starts tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Be a zombie. They're the old school new school vampire!

This is like multithreading of FKL combining dual wield hobby time.

Theme music... baby.

What happens if you shoot a zombie?

And I would actually warn you against using the Recon, as it looks like it doesn't use standard Nerf darts. Scavenging could be a problem.

I'm pretty sure they don't get to pick what side their on.

My campus did this last semester. I was working on an art project in my dorm then all of the sudden:

OW YOU SHOT ME!

Lewl, sounds like most of 2006-2009 @ NBGA. After a while, the ambushes wear you down, man. You can hear 'em comin' through the walls, under the floors. Got to be so I couldn't sleep nights anymore... so I went to the hardware store, picked up some springs, and made sure that one shot was enough to win the battle.

Still do mods for friends on occasion.

Oh, and good luck with zombies.

Day 1: Morning

37 Zombies (12.37%)
262 Humans (87.62%)

I just caught word from one of my friends that another friend was killed and came back as a zombie. I'll need to keep my eyes open for Anti-Virus so we can get him back. In the meantime, I can't hesitate to shoot him if I see him.

I recommend going and getting something with more bullets.

Are you allowed to pick up darts after use?

Tact
Apr 19, 2010, 04:35 PM
Yes, I am.

Day 1: Afternoon

64 Zombies (24.71%)
195 Humans (75.28%)

It turns out I'm really bad at running and stealth when I'm holding any sort of Nerf gun. I am now a zombie. Now we need to find enough Anti-Virus for three people.

Too much reload time, I'd wager.

When dealing with zombies, I'd probably go with the simplicity of the Maverick or maybe that CS-35. Maverick can jam a little too often, though.

Anyone try the Deploy CS-6 yet?

I could imagine a guy walking around with http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/2143/reconcs6.jpg
or any gun would be an easy target.

You talk about anti virus, does this mean you could be changed back?
If you help find it, or follow the guys trying to find it, steal it from them!

Yes, I can become a human again if I find it. However, I might just give it to my friends first. The short time I spent as a human was really stressful because I was alone.

So how did it go down for you to become that zombie?

Crowd rolled around a corner, you heard them coming, shadows up the wall getting closer, lotsa noise or what?

Where is the suspense Resident FKL catboygirlman?!

I haven't written a story in a while. I'm sure I'm a bit out-of-practice. I sort of facepalmed when the zombie who tagged me told me he wouldn't have noticed me if I hadn't started running.

But I was in the open, and I was sure he saw me already...

Gotta melee attack him, then jump on top of whatever is available.

Locker, counter, desk, park bench, BBQ pit wooden roof. Frank West style.

Tact

I would use melee if it were allowed. But alas, I had to stick to a Nerf gun.

Maybe if I could learn the fictional martial art of Gun Kata, I would do a bit better.

The problem was, Nerf hasn't made a chainsaw yet. Can't fight zombies without chainsaws!

Batman Bale learned that one before he became the rude, crude, Bat dude with that overly gruffy voice.

But its just my zombie survival skills come from that Dead Rising, not books. Health books are good in that one, but the Survival Book is like a double Health book, highly recommended. Whether or not a vaccine can be made from mall junk like cold medicine and blenders though, is up to debate.

How does the vaccine work for your game? Pretty low quantity I'd imagine.

How does the vaccine work for your game? Pretty low quantity I'd imagine.

That actually depends on how well the humans do/did in tonight's mission.

Speaking of which...

Night 1: Mission

74 Zombies (28.03%)
190 Humans (71.96%)

The humans had to get blood samples from the original zombies of the game (shooting them with Nerf darts). The zombies' mission was to protect the original zombies, and also prevent the humans from getting information from the computer labs on the other side of campus.

The humans would be able to manufacture a certain quantity of anti-virus from completing parts of this mission. The more completed parts, the more anti-virus they can make. The mission's completion status is undecided as of now, but I'll post again later.

I told ya would get infected. Thats what you get for using the n00btastic recon. I hate those things. The only way to fail more is to use the longstrike.

If you do manage to get cured, go buy the true king of HvZ

Now that I think of it I agree with a lot of other people that the recon isn't a very good choice. A friend of mine has it, recocking it will be annoying, it jams up frequently, and when it jams, you can say goodbye to living.

I didn't get killed because of my gun choice. I got killed because of my stupidity.

Day 2: Afternoon

86 Zombies (32.45%)
179 Humans (67.54%)

Anti-Viruses have been spread around campus as a result of last night's mission. Hopefully, I can find one.

Just be sure you don't pick up any Norton. That stuff will cling to you like a nasty, nasty leech. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.
