Read Dead Redemption came out on 18 May 2010 on Xbox 360 and PS3. It's a really fun game that can be described as, an open world, third-person shooter, based in an early 1900s American setting.

The game was developed by Rockstar San Diego (Red Dead Revolver, Midnight Club) and published by Rockstar Games.
It features both a robust single player mode and a massive multiplayer mode. In the single player you can do various different missions, such as lassoing and taming wild horses, having a duel with a wild man, stopping criminals and gangs in their hideouts. You can also go hunting and play lots of different games such as, poker, five finger fillet, horseshoes, etc.
In multiplayer you can either play free roam, free-for-all, or gang matches. In free roam you can explore the entire game world, much like GTA IV. You can also go to different gang hideouts and wipeout the gangs to gain experience. In free-for-all and gang matches you play the standard, death matches and objective games. A unique feature to the RDR multiplayer modes is the standoff at the beginning of each match. Whoever wins the standoff gets a head-start on the match.
Free roam mode is my favorite mode to play. A cool thing that you can do is form a posse. When you form a posse your posse leader can set waypoints for you and you can also spawn near your other posse members. This is really helpful because the game map is huge and travel by horse takes a while. You can also travel by transportion spots, which are basically teleporters. The only thing I don't like about posses is the fact that you have to start a new one with each game you go into. I thought that it was going to be a more traditional clan system.

The multiplayer also features a very in-depth ranking system. As you rank up you gain different mounts, characters, weapons and titles. The first mounts and weapons are weak but as you level you get some awesome ones.
Rockstar has also announced that they will be adding in co-op missions to the game as dlc in June, free of charge.
This game is awesome. I was expecting it to be good, but not this good. My one complaint is the glitches online. The game suffers from an invisibility glitch where some players start to go invisible when playing online. It is really bad. I don't see how this made it through a beta test with none of the testers noticing it. Hopefully they patch it soon. Here's a Kotaku article that explains the glitch: link (http://kotaku.com/5542914/invisibility-bugs-vexing-red-dead-redemption-players)
Anyone else enjoying this game?
[SPOILER-BOX]I also found this on Kotaku.
If anyone is on the fence about which version to get, I'd suggest going with 360 on this one. Supposedly the PS3 edition suffers from frame rate issues, resolution issues and other graphic issues. The game runs at a lower resolution on PS3, 640p vs 720p on 360. Even though the 360 edition was the lead platform, the screen shots comparisons don't look too bad. The PS3 does suffer a lot with foliage and grass rendering. The 360 version has grass all over the place and the PS3 has about 50% of the grass on the ground. It's a pretty noticeable difference.

P.S. Not trying to start a flame war. I own both systems and own lots of multiplatform games on PS3. I'm just trying to inform the people who look for stuff like this.[/SPOILER-BOX]
